Blender blade removal

I recently bought an awesome Oster Cyclomatic blender. Just my luck, the metal collar that holds the blade in place is to tight that I can't unscrew it from the bottom of the blender jar. Any suggestions?

This is one of the quietest blenders I have ever heard. I like the "cycle-pulse" feature, it sure helps prevent over processing.

You could try sitting it in a shallow pan of simmering water for a few minutes then have a go... Having a bench vice would certainly help.. If all else fails Oster blender jars and bases are the second most common element on the planet after water.

Maybe it has a reverse thread? I know that cheap K mart blender I have is like that, you turn it clockwise to remove the bottom.

I second the suggestion of heat.  A blow dryer has worked for me on stuck items in the past.  You may need to use a strap wrench to budge the collar if it's particularly stubborn, presuming it's the old-school metal type that lends itself to the use of such a tool.   A textured rubber disk for removing jar lids might also provide a good enough grip if you don't own a strap wrench.

 

It's always a challenge when the item that's stuck is connected to something breakable that can't be put in a vice, but where there's a will, there's a way.

Thanks for the suggestions, going to apply heat and try the strap wrench. Thought of a vise as well.

A lot of times the BASE is your friend, soak the jar in hot water, both inside and out....and then place it on the base, and once it locks in place, try turning the jar while holding the base in place......

most Osters have this slot that will lock the cap, but they also may have little tabls that stick up and will touch the glass as well, find an area inbetween....several of mine had to be removed this way....

apply penetrating oil if you have too.....anything at this point just to get it off, just wash it well once you do, and apply some vegetable oil or cooking spray to the threads from there on....
