I happened to watch this video and it sounds like the blender broke at 7:55. Does anyone else hear it sound funny? And then she tried to turn it off. LOL

QVC-KA----"Will It Blend?"Leave that to Blendtec.See I told you KA should just stick to mixers. The machine sounded like the blades were stalled.and then she tried to start it again and it was stalled and really lugging hard.Surprized an OL device didn't trip the machine off.Shows that blender is not powerful enough to handle that thick mixture.Don't want to sound like an ad-the Blendtec or VM blenders would handle that dip mixture with no problem.Another tough test-see if that KA blender can make peanut butter from actual peanuts--one of the toughest tests.

Ain't Live Television Fun-?

Yeah - poor Laura... clearly the (under-powered) KitchenAid 'Diamond' Blender couldn't handle whatever was already placed in the pitcher. I'm also unclear why she was bothering to 'tamp-down' the ingredients. It IS a blender, after all. And they were touting its "... Diamond blending system..." Who are they kidding-? Tolivac nailed it: If you're serious about benders - the Blendtec or Vitamix are the ones to choose. And even Consumer Reports only gave a middling rating on the KitchenAid.

I'm certain it's a bit confusing standing on the non-operating side of an appliance and then attempt to effortlessly operate the controls, but clearly Laura was more than flummoxed during this demo. Well it's all history now, for at the end of June, after shilling for KA for over 22 years, Laura has decided to move-on to do other things in her life. (I hope she has a 'real' blender in her kitchen, rather than that poor excuse for one she was saddled-with demonstrating).

Yeah, and I'm not sure why she took the lid off that blender and picked up the spatula and then put it back down. But then she moved on to the next one and tried to blend some thing else and you can hear her say "Oh my gosh!" in the background toward the end. She seemed quite perplexed there.

What is the big "red"

blender with the big black knob that Sam's club sells for about $200? It is made in China, but is touted as a commercial type blender.

So how did this blender fail??

I watched the video a few times starting at 7:35 and did not see or hear anything strange, odd or fatal. She was "pulsing" and then she wasn't.

Maybe it's that I'm at work and didn't have the volume at "blast levels". I guess I was expecting more of a "catastrophic failure".

= = = = =

OK, just watched it again with the volume louder. Doesn't sound like the blender failed in any way at all. As she was pulsing, the blades spun and created an "air pocket" in what ever she was trying to blend. It was dense enough that it didn't settle down on the blades, hence an air pocket and the blades just spun free.

So nothing broke or failed.

As for the blender still operating, that was simply operator error, she didn't turn the blender off correctly when she thought she did.

Newer KitchenAid blenders

This diamond blending blender I never liked, too much space between jar and blades. Not known to evenly chop in a pulse mode. Tried one and returned it and the one of the previous design too! They have two newer ones but there are sure pricy! part of the cost must be in the warranty! I like my old Oster Cycle Blend with the bigger ice crusher blades, makes great peanut, almond and cashew butter, great fresh salsa too. Not to mention the veggie/fruit smoothies most mornings

She must have had "Cavitation" too much air getting trapped in the mixture-keeping the mixture from getting into the blades. Can make it sound like the blender is lugging. You have to stop the blender and stir the mixture with a rubber spatula and try blending again.Or you can add some more liquid to the mixture.IE it was too thick for the blender to mix it.

There is not much information about the motors of the foodprocessors. I opened a few manuals and in some of them there is a bit more information. In the manual of the KFP0930 it says that this model has a 360 Watts motor, which is rather low IMHO. Is that still an induction motor? From the noise the motors make on Youtube I can hardly believe it.

Dense bread

dough my foot! If my 1983 Cuisinart ever dies, I'll get the Kitchen Aid stand mixer processor attachment. My sister got one, and says it works great. It should, it costs $150

Cherish your older Cusinart food processor machine.Their new ones now have the geared universal brushed motors like the new KA processors.I would like to see the blade braking of the new machines compared to the older induction motored ones.To stop the induction motor-a pulse of DC is fed into it-the motor stops INSTANTLY!!The universal ones with the gear train can't do this becuase of the inertia of the gears. So the induction motor machines you have better control of the blades. This is what happens when makers cheapen out-you get a poorer quality machine and one that won't perform as well. And don't count on those brush motor gear machines lasting long-bet they have PLASTIC gears in them-and if you do the tough jobs like the dough kneading or making peanut butter--the gears will wear quickly. If you have to use gears-at least use metal ones.
