So I decided to cleab the samsung front-loader I have sitting in my furnace room. I thought I had a tube of tub cleaner laying around but couldn't find it. Hooked the hot water up and loaded about half a cup of boil out in the tub.... I wished I would have snapped a pic, the water wasnt filthy but I ran a rinse cycle first and the water from the hot cycle with the boil out was definately a few shades darker. The tub is clean now!

What else do you guys use cascade boil out for besides dishwashers?

Sounds like a great idea!  Never would have thought to use it to clean out a washer.

It's funny

You mention that. If I recall correctly, Fisher & Paykel recommended using a powder dishwasher detergent with phosphates to clean your washer every 6 months.

I always wondered what they recommended after the ban on phosphates. But.. since they approved it for use in their machines, I'd assume that it's pretty safe to use every so often to clean out a FL Washer.

Using a Phosphate Detergent is going to act as a very good descaler, not to mention.. the bleaching content would kill off any accumulated mold or mildew in the appliance. :-)
