I think that Balony salad is something that you either love it
or hate it.
I've never met anyone that just thought it was .....ok.

We've never substituted ham for the balony.
Our balony salad has always been made the way I described in
my first post at the top.
If you use ham....then you have ham salad and our ham salad
has never had the sweet pickle relish in it.

I really dont like to change recipes that have been passed down
to me from my Mom and G'mom. To me that would be taking the
charm away from what used to be everyday life. Its the memories connected with it I suppose.

Fried balony anyone ?

Mixergal.....

I understand what your saying about the way we say our words.
I love listening to the different accents around our country.
Alot of people think that here in NJ we ALL say Joisey.
Thats just not true.
Its the people from north jersey that have that accent.
I live in the southern end of new jersey.
We don't say "joisey" down here.
We can tell immediately if your from the northern part of our state by the way you talk.
For the most part, we jersey-ites do talk fast though.
I can usually tell you a 15 minute story in about 5 mins or less if I'm in a hurry. (hope you can hear that fast)
I have cousins that live down in Alabama and I can barely understand anything that they say. And they tell ME that I have an accent!
My brother lived in St Pete FL and I used to visit him at least once a year. I was always amazed that no one that I ever met in FL had an accent. It just always drove me crazy that everyone down south talks so slow.
The hardest accent for me to understand is the Aussie one.
I was in Sydney for 2 weeks and had a terrible time understanding them. They talk fast, run their words together and with their accent my head was spinning. Plus they use words that we use but they might mean something altogether different. And, don't stick yer thumb out trying to hitch a ride. Sticking yer thumb out is the equivilent of giving someone the middle finger here !

Butch...

hahahahahaha...

It's going to be a great day..dont cha think? thumbs up!

I thought it was going to rain today....after all, I did my little rain dance on the front porch last night like you said...

GUESS I SHOULD HAVE LEFT MY CLOTHES ON?

My Grandma Wilde would grind 1lb. of Spam with 1lb. of Velveeta, and then mix in enough Miracle Whip to make it spreadable. She would then spread it on halves of hamburger buns, and then put them under the broiler until they were browned on top, served with potato chips, pickles, and chocolate cake for dessert.

Fried Bologna

Ummm, fried bologna sandwich with a big slice of videlia onion on 12 grain bread with Kosciusko mustard. It's really tempting, but it's 3:30AM, Oh well....

Time dosent matter, if your hungry for it....eat it !
You only live once and if this fried balony sammich is the
thing to kill ya at least you won't have died being hungry.
Which reminds me.......
My Mom used to make fried liver and onions when I was a kid.
Major YUCK !
I always had to eat whatever my parents put on my plate.
One day she made fried liver and onions and of course I ended
up with some on my plate...which I HAD to eat.
I was very verbal in expressing my UGH outloud.
Then of course I got the "you ought to be glad you have food to eat" from her and my Dad.
"Don't you know that people are starving over in Africa?" I'd hear from them.
I told them this one day, "Wrap this up and send it over there, I'm pretty sure I'll live another day if I don't eat this".
I think I spent the next 2 hrs in my room.

{{{sigh}}} - just a fleeting memory from my childhood. :)

ps....now I LOVE fried liver and onions !!

So, whattya sayin, Butch,

I should try balony salad sammiches now that I'm an adult? Nope, sorry - still think balony is YUK! Even if it's Koegels.

Oh, and I don't like Vernors either.

Guess I'm not a very loyal Michigander :)

I love Herman Miller - does that help?

-Sherri

Don't do it Sherri....no....DONT

If ya don't like bolony....I recommend that
Ya dont eat it !

There are foods that I don't like too.
Pancakes....ugh.....I hate them things!
I didn't like them when I was a kid and I still don't like em.
I don't know why...I just don't like em.
And it dosen't make any sense at all but I do like waffles and basically they're made from the same batter but pancakes...YUCK !

I'm not fond of pancake syrup either !
Waaaaaaay to sweet and it made my teeth feel weird.
It left a gritty feeling on my teeth...ugh.
I do like the true/natural maple syrup...not as sweet as the store bought stuff like Log Cabin etc etc

I'll probably have 10 people hollering at me but I have a
question.....who is Herman Miller?
