Does anybody besides me still use Boraxo powdered hand soap? I use it all the time and prefer it over Lava soap.

Yes, I use Boraxo. It's the only thing that gets really grimy hands (from shop, cars, garden, etc) clean without tearing them to pieces. Most shops I've worked at also use Boraxo. It works as well or better than the more expensive pumice laced cream style hand soaps (like GoJo).

The one thing I lack at home are suitable dispensers. Right now I'm using a well labeled plastic squeeze bottle with the tip clipped big. Works pretty well. But a wall mount dispenser would be even better.

As a fountain pen user, I find Boraxo does a good job of removing ink stains from fingers. The best thing to use might be dishwasher detergent with chlorine bleach, but who wants to go around smelling like bleach?

When I have serious schmutz

to remove from my hands, I like Bon Ami powder, which I always have anyway.

A number of years ago, I was an office temp at GoJo, during the launch of Purell.

Yikes!

DW detergent and bleach would be extremely hard on the skin. I'd rather live with the stain/dirt than do that to my body.

I recall that when I was a teen in the 60's I was trying to "cure" my acne. Which wasn't all that bad but enough to frustrate me. I heard that oily skin was the cause, and that medications with detergent properties were used to dry out the skin.

Soo.... I made a paste of good old powdered laundry detergent and applied that liberally to my face. Left it on until it dried and then some.

The results were a bit horrific. I broke out in a rash all over my face, with skin peeling off, and had a hard time explaining that at school. The zits were much better than that.

Only tried that once.

I had

forgotten about Boraxo. It was always available when I was growing up along with Lava. I do remember that it worked well. Did you get my email that I sent you in the club Steve? Happy Holidays to ALL !!

I totally forgot about Boraxo, weird since that's all they used at all the schools here when I was a kid. I should get some for when I work on the cars. I usually use a small pinch of powdered detergent when my hands are grimy, followed by a good application of lotion. And by the way, the Sears Ultra Plus gets my hands perfectly clean after being covered with engine gunk. And it seemed to exfoliate them pretty good as well since it leaves them feeling pretty smooth.

Haven't seen it since school days. Our elementary school had white dispensers with the Boraxo logo and "softened with Lanolin". Most likely Boraxo gave the schools free dispensers in return for using their product.
