I looked on the Bosch website and was looking at this new Bosch Ascenta. Looks interesting but in my openion why use the bottom with a plastic base? And the rest stainless interior? They should just use all stainless as before. Even though these machines are cheaper - I would rather get the all stainless. The instruction manuals are not out as of yet. I do like the way the consoles look per the pictures. But it seems like another waste. Also being their is no drying heater I think the plastic bottom would make for more poorer drying performance. Any comments?

not such great luck with bosch for me...

im on my second bosch in the past three years.... i am not sure why but my dishes just do not clean consistently well. in addition, once the cycle is over, and the door is opened, there is a strong odor of dirty dishes from the completed cycle.. i spoke to a bosch rep about this- he had no answer for me.. i spoke to the sales consultants where i purchased the d/w- they said they have had the same complaint from time to time from customers they have sold... perhaps it is due to only one tray for detergent- they do not have a prewash dispense for soap. whatever the reason, im tossing out this 1,000 dollar dishwasher, and trading it for a good old reliable new kenmore/whirlpool. never again a bosch.

If you just want clean dishes get a MIELE. (ok srry it's automatic). Run you dishwasher as hot as possible with a dishwasher cleaner, should help. Is there any new dishwasher that has a prewash dispenser? Thougt they just pour it in the machine once the door is closed? It's strange that there are all those complaints about BSH appliances, over here they are good value for money!

Ok, forgot to add that plastic tubs are hell to dry without heat or recirculation fan... just look at anything plastic you put in the dishwasher, it's never that dry as other items!

Noticed the 'plastic' on the bottom of the Bosch dishwashers while visiting PC Richards in NYC last weekend and thought the same thing.....Why did they cheapen the dishwasher by taking out the stainless steel and putting in the plastic????

The consoles were kewl looking.

Plastic base Bosch 's

There is one model on sale in the UK made by Bosch, that has the plastic base (known as 'Polinox'). Available in white or silver, it is the 'Classixx' budget model.

As far as I can make out, the plastic based machines are not made in Germany; indeed they are probably made in the Fagor factory in Spain.

Those plastic base models are something like $200 cheaper than the least expensive stainless model in Lowes. Big difference. Are there any other differences in the machines besides this?
