Our washing machine packed in yesterday. No problem thinks me, as I can replace it with a elderly Bosch V696 washer dryer, until I effect a fix.

After plumbing-in the old machine, water trickled into the drum after switching the water on but leaving the electric unplugged. After taking off the top lid, it appears that one solenoid, which controls a flow of cold water into the dryer condensor, on the 4-way valve has burnt out.

While new ones are available, the £80-100 cost is enough to write-off this particular well-used machine.

Does anyone know of a less expensive alternative, or of any used examples of either the complete valve, or the separate solenoid, which is held onto the body by 4 screws?

Cheers,

Rob

Hi Rob.

I don't have the part you are after I am afraid :-(

Totally concur with you though, with you mentioning space being tight.
I own a Siemens Siwamat Washer Dryer and was stunned when I took off the top.
Suffice to say, there is a lot packed in there!

Also, one of the solonoids in mine is dicky too - the flow through cold is a trickle.....

Bugger! If Only I'd Known Sooner!!!

TriumphToledo,

Bugger! If Only I'd Known Sooner!!!

I bought a Bosch V695 for a family member at the end of last year, but after getting a plug attached, as the muppet selling it cut the original off, I gave it a test, but it was so abrupt & noisy that I scrapped it, as I didn't really have room to store it either.

It weighed a ton too, took me an hour to drag it round from one side of Grandma's conservatory to the main garden shed.

To make matters worse, I managed to snap the door release handle off.
If I'd known which part was needed at the time, I'd've happily salvaged it before it went off with the scrappers.

I've attached a link for the Siemens Siwamat version that is identical to the V695 I had.

Damn!

Was that the machine on eBay in Luton at some point last year?? Shame though as I could have done with some parts for mine.

There does not seem to be that many of these sturdy old beasts left...one more less will remain unless I can unearth a valve for it. I found a used one in Holland for ten euros but the vendor would not post it to the UK sadly. Any other suggestions?

''Vendor won't post to the UK''

Hi, might be worth asking if there are any Dutch members on the site who could buy the part and then they post it on to you from Holland. I think Louis / member Foraloysius is from Holland, maybe he might be able to help you?

Just a thought!

Chris

Valves

Hello Rob

Will a 4 way valve (Think it was a Fagor valve...) not fit in? If it will, then to get around the modern connector issue I could give you 4X sets of wires from some scrap machines with the correct connectors on, and you put spades on the other end of them which go to the timer...if that makes any sense?

Chris

Re

Cheers for the offer Chris but, looking at the pics above, I do not think that the Fagor valve will fit. Would anyone be interested in taking the machine on as I may have another, ahem, project arriving soon...
