Hello peoples!

Just had come back from a job a Bosch VT596 washer/dryer. It looks in good shape but unsure of fault yet. I'll try to upload a picture of it later, but as this machine not really my thing wondered if any of you were interested?

Bjorn

Hi Bjorn, hope your well, I would be very interested in buying it.I have a VT 595 which had some damage when it was delivered, Matchboxpaul to whom I am very grateful has managed to get some spares for me from a newer machine but yours sounds like it may be a closer match. Does it look like this?

How do Richard

Bjorns machine would come in useful, as the VT596 was another timeline washer dryer, the same as yours but with a brown facia and a left to right/right to left opening panel door.

Dont know whether the VT596 came with cappped dials or screwed though. Fingers crossed!

You must have done repair work to that facia Richards, as it didnt look like that wehen we saw it at the weekend.

Can understand why you were a tad gutted when, after unwrapping, you saw that. What careless bas^%$£" those delivery men were!

inspiration or cut-and-paste ?

definitely I love late seventies Bosch. But I'm not the only one

Look at that fascia : that black & silver ... those knobs .... that in-line sequence display ....

Zanussi too loved them so much, then some year later they swapped silver and black et voila

"window" to open the glass door

"door" to open the outer door

Wonder if current Bosch/Siemens WD still have the thermospin feature (last rinse with hot water). Miele WT 2670 still does

Wow that looks the same as mine but with no dents scratches missing knod covers or kick plate broken off. When I bought mine off ebay it in perfect condition and then when it was delivered it looked like that, I was so upset. Kept trying to convince myself that it didn't matter to much and at least the machine works perfectly but it would be amazing to getting looking in perfect shape again, it's one of my favorite machines. Yours looks so much better with the covers on the knobs.Never thought I'd see another one again. Like I said before I would love to buy it of you. Do you know whats wrong the yours.

Just connected it up to try it.

Machine works, fills, washes and heats fine. Bearings seem ok but motor is a bit on the noisey side but it doesn't drain. It sounds as if the pump is jammed, i'll look at it later properly when i've time and let you all know.

Well that has surprised me!

Here was me expecting a brown faciad machine, but instead we have a clone - apart from the orange button and door opening from the side.

Should you decide to buy richard, it might pose a problem! Is the VT596 too good to act as a donor machine?

Am glad someone answered the 'whats the window button question'. Had me flumoxed when I saw Richards VT595 on Saturday.

Cheers
Paul
p.s below is the machine that was parted out for spares for Ricahrds VT595

Before I get shouted at!

When I first saw it I was over the moon, but couldnt get a closer look at it until the following day.

It was stacked under a scrap modern machine (cant remember what) and I assumed that it had one of those thin 'machine been integrated' covers on the top.

When I saw it the following day BIG issues arose with it.

1) it was missing its lid and had been open to the elements all week

2) the outer door catch mechanism was nadged - hence the string around the machine holding the door shut

3) the entire back panel was missing from the machine

&

4) there was a BIG space underneath the drum, when something had been removed and not replaced - see piccy below.

Soooo, heart sank at the prospect of having a very dead machine on my hands, that didnt have a cat in hells chance of being powered up again, apart from at great cost. I mmmmmm'ed about whether to buy it or not.

Then I remembered Richards issues with the delivery men and his VT595. decided to borrow it from the shop, with permission, and take it to my parents for stripping. the remains were then taken back to the shop for sale to recyclers.

The only thing left in the machine was the inner and outer drum - everything else was removed. I was billed the princely sum of £2.50 for all the parts i had taken off.

Hopefully some of the parts removed will be compatible with the VT595 and, even if you buy the VT596 Richard, you can never have enough spare parts!

I dont dispose of machines at all lightly, but hopefully the V481 didn't die in vain and its parts will go towards helping others.

Paul
