Before I get shouted at!
When I first saw it I was over the moon, but couldnt get a closer look at it until the following day.
It was stacked under a scrap modern machine (cant remember what) and I assumed that it had one of those thin 'machine been integrated' covers on the top.
When I saw it the following day BIG issues arose with it.
1) it was missing its lid and had been open to the elements all week
2) the outer door catch mechanism was nadged - hence the string around the machine holding the door shut
3) the entire back panel was missing from the machine
&
4) there was a BIG space underneath the drum, when something had been removed and not replaced - see piccy below.
Soooo, heart sank at the prospect of having a very dead machine on my hands, that didnt have a cat in hells chance of being powered up again, apart from at great cost. I mmmmmm'ed about whether to buy it or not.
Then I remembered Richards issues with the delivery men and his VT595. decided to borrow it from the shop, with permission, and take it to my parents for stripping. the remains were then taken back to the shop for sale to recyclers.
The only thing left in the machine was the inner and outer drum - everything else was removed. I was billed the princely sum of £2.50 for all the parts i had taken off.
Hopefully some of the parts removed will be compatible with the VT595 and, even if you buy the VT596 Richard, you can never have enough spare parts!
I dont dispose of machines at all lightly, but hopefully the V481 didn't die in vain and its parts will go towards helping others.
Paul
