Bosch WTW86560GB Tumble Dryer

I just had this dryer delivered this afternoon to replace my Zanussi condenser. There was nothing wrong with the dryer but I just wanted a heat pump machine since It would make me feel less guilty about tumbling most of my clothes!

The machine feels much sturdier than the Zanussi and it also doesn't vibrate so much when its on. Read some complaints on review sites about leaving clothes damp but I dried towels on cupboard dry plus and they were a bit over dry! It was the same on the Zanussi though. Had to dry towels on 'slightly Damp' to keep a bit of softness in them. I'll just need to play around with the cycles to see what the best combinations are.

Only disadvantage is that it is a bit noisier. Its just due to the compressed and self cleaning condenser unit though, its worth it! I always hated cleaning the condenser unit in the old one! Hopefully the self cleaning unit does what it says on the tin!

Over dry??

Your supposed to adjust the sensor level using the dryness selection in the display (a flower type symbol), they set it to 2 as a default, but set it to 1, and it wont dry for as long, meaning little moisture remains.
Excellent dryer, is this the A-50% new one, or the one before A-40% energy? Still the most energy efficient of the heat pump ones on today's market, and still the only one with self cleaning condenser.

Thanks guys! The dryer was delivered with the dryness set at the lowest level. I would have changed it down anyways. The Zanussi said to turn the level down for our soft water! I figured it would be the same idea since Germany has some pretty hard water! I just should have stuck to my guns and put the machine on cupboard dry rather than the plus.

The dryer seems to take a bit longer than my old one. I don't know if its just because the it never had a display so never knew quite how long it took. It doesn't bother me if it does since it has the 40 min program.

Its the older model with the A - 40%. Since its last years model it had a much better price!

I own the very first model of this dryer and it is non-reversing... Shame!

I knew the dryer had uni directional tumble when i bought it. It said it had 'revolution' drying. I hope it works and doesn't tangle up stuff! How do you find it? I've not noticed anything yet.

No tangling here, either. Even with just sheets in there! And yes, the Cupboard Dry is really enough for most loads. It even dries thick socks all the way.

Do you have the most recent filter sytems in there? (rubber sealing strip and two filters)

I've not dried sheets yet so I was a bit worried! It does have the new filter system. I was surprised at how much less lint there than in the old one! Must be much gentler and clothes feel softer. Also caught the self clean part and it sounded pretty cool. It sounds like the water has some force!

Yes, our Siemens produces very little lint, too. I was surprised as well. I dried several pillow cases and duvet covers in one load and no tangling - but pretty severe wrinkles. Another load of six fitted sheets came out perfect - on Cupboard Dry Plus.

Horrible tangling

It is almost impossible to dry bedclothes, especially fitted sheets without tangling. Shrinkage and creasing are also a big problem, even with the "gentle" option on. We had had a repairman to look after it after a half year of use. Everything was full of lint (we then hadn't yet the second filter)... As you can see, I really hate this monster... And it was very expensive, too... I do wonder why the test institute says "very good"...

Maybe is has to do with load size? As said before, my six fitted sheets came out beautifully. Much to my surprise, actually, as I've heard about tangling issues. Also towels don't ball up - even the largest ones.

Hi David i have the siemens version of your dryer, it is good and quick at drying and it doesnt crease trhings too badly, but im abit unsure of how gentle it is, it has shrunk afew of my shirts, my zanussi in the wash house seems to be a bit more gentle compared to the siemens.....
anyway, congratulations on your purchase David

I do wonder if the BSH machines run a little hotter than some Electrolux ones from the past 5-10 years, as I've noticed a few items shrinking slightly even on low heat. Nothing too much though.

Creasing can be an issue at times, and sheets etc. can sometimes be fine and sometimes ball up. Even if they do tangle into a ball they sometimes come undone again, but it's just one of those things I think - could do the same load two or three times and get different results.

I thought because of the heat pump it would run a bit cooler. It seems to run a bit cooler anyway! Ive not noticed any shrinking compared to the Zanussi though.

Not washed bedding yet, managed to get to the washing line today before my neighbours got it! Put on the cool air cycle to fluff it up. I'll see how it goes... Bedding would ball up in the Zanussi due to the reverse tumble only lasting 30 secs at a time so its nothing i'm not used too!
