This past weekend, as Todd and I were in preparation to travel to Conway, Arkansas to visit Ralph, I found this Craigslist ad:
General Electric Washer & Dryer - $50 (Centerville, MO)
I HAVE A HARDLY USED GENERAL ELECTRIC WASHER AND DRYER MATCHING SET FOR $50/EACH OR $100/SET, COLOR - GREEN. THEY ARE AN OLDER MODEL BUT THEY WERE HARDLY USED. THEY ARE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE AND LOOK BRAND NEW. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE EMAIL ME AND I WILL GET BACK TO YOU ASAP. THANKS !
It would have been feasible to detour slightly off of I-55 to Centerville to pick this pair up, but in the end, it was nearly a 10 hour drive between Conway and Peoria, so I decided that I had to pass this one up.
Another reason for turning it down is because, as the seller described the washer to me, it has a water level switch for High and Low, plus a Water Temperature switch. The pair, as she described it to me, is in a mobile home, apparently off the beaten path a little, with no electricity. She recently acquired the mobile home, and is selling some items off to raise funds for other needs. The pair is in a tight location, and she could not see the model/serial number plate to read me the model number and serial number. She also said that the previous owners had only used the mobile home for a vacation getaway spot (if memory serves me correctly), and that the washer was only used once a year while the folks were vacationing there.
So I told her that I would pass the word on, to see if I could help her sell this washer/dryer pair. She does not have a picture phone, so I could not get any pictures.
So if you are interested, Centerville, MO, is located south-southwest of St. Louis about 2 hours 15 minutes drive.
Her name is Pam. PLEASE, if you call her using the number I am listing below, PLEASE tell her that you are a friend of Mike Haller, whom she had spoken with about the washer the weekend of March 10-11, but that he was unable to come to buy the machines. And PLEASE be gentle in your conversation with her.
