Brand New Maytag MTW5600TQ

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I don't think it's that bad. A white porcelain tub and a straight vane agi would have been much better.

Hopefully this is only a transition model and WP really will make Maytag a premium brand again.

All-in-all, I'm glad it's not the magicnorgetag washer. I like the center dial, but I think the knobage (is that a word?) could be a little better. I like the Kenmore-style Elite top on the cabinet. This model has the grey spreckle tub.

Gah!

It's a Whirltag!

If I weren't getting over bronchitis, I would be sick.

Freaking sacrilege that they call it "Dependable Care!"

Yep. No more balls. It's the typical WP lid hinge. Here is an interior shot. Pardon the color. My camera took a header off my desk last week and now it is taking some downright crappy pictures.

Again...

I am close to heartbroken, and that is a word I don't use often, or lightly.

The only thing that is "Maytag" on that machine is the name. Just another Whirlpool to me.
(and no offence to anyone connected to Whirlpool Co.)

As I mentioned in another thread my first impression was that the panel was a little too plain.

But remember, the top two models (MTW5800 & MTW5900) are said to have "premium" knob and consoles. It specifically states "premium knob" not "premium knobs". Are buttons too much to hope for ?

Thanks for posting the pictures. Interesting design to say the least, but I'm thankful they aren't those horrid Norgetags. The "Dependable Care" moniker came as a bit of a surprise. Does this mean that the REAL Dependable Cares will soon be phased out, if they haven't been already?

I wonder if perhaps the more high-end models will be different style-wise. The control panel has an asymmetrical look to it with the knobs on one side, but I have a feeling it was done on purpose, so it wouldn't look like an 80's center-dial Kenmore.

I'm interested in seeing the other models. If one in the lineup ends up having buttons, it might follow me home from Lowe's...

Hmmm.

I dont mind the look from the outside. Almost retro looking.

But I am so dissappointed with the agitator! Surely Whirlpool/Kenmore have enough different agitators in the parts bin to come up with something a bit different.

Plus the DD machines are so hard on clothes.

How strange looking, i dont like this specific model at all maybe maytag shouldve stuck with there previous design. Its a whirltag, waytag, mirlpool! LOL hideous freak! LOL

Kinda interesting. But I have to say the console looks off-balance. Some text or a graphic on the right side would fill in the space.

the center dial layout looks pretty classy. You should see it in person, it is nice.
The dial and knobs though, when you play with them, feel like crap. I don't know where WP got them, but quality and smoothness are NOT adjectives to describe them.
The rest of the machine is nice.

Hopefully, these are just "transition" models.

Ugh!

That looks just like the WP I just bought which I am not happy with. This weekend I'm definitely finding the LAV3600 somewhere and buying it. I think it's horrible that they are putting "Dependable Care" on that thing!

Does that temp. knob say

Cold
Cool
Warm
Hot?

How does this get accomplished? is it a re-hash of 60s and earlier water temp controls with four settings/options?

I think im in shock. Guess we knew it was coming. Runematic thanks for posting the pics.
