I have a very rare brand new never used or even turned on General Electric 1980's dishwasher for sale. Came with our 1988 park model we bought and we don't need a dishwasher at the cabin:) This thing still have the styrophom inside and cardboard along with a never opened manual and everything else inside like it was delivered. They never even ran it once. This should work like a charm and for many years as I feel appliance have deteriorated in how well they are made just so we have to buy new every couple of years. The sticker on the front was never taken off and when we took it off it left some residue and we haven't done anything to remove it. This is currently at our house in Blaine. I am asking $100. please email me with questions. Thanks!

GE!

I had the same exact model installed in my apt in 1985 shortly after I moved in. It cleaned decently but not the greatest. I had it for 14 years and shortly before I moved I heard GE had a recall on these models because of the energy switch and they stated possible fire issue. One thing I didnt like about the unit was the detergent dispenser and it made a loud snapping sound when it opened. It still is better than what they make today. I remember wishing that I had the 1200 series model!

This came installed with my parents' house that they bought in '90. The house had been built in '88 and sat vacant for a bit. We have a similar model in our house that's from 1992.

Looks like the one they had on recall giving a percentage off for replacement models. They claimed some had fire issues. I'd call 800 262 2000 , give the model and serial number to check and be sure.

They did indeed!

I've seen a couple. That heat/no heat slider would melt and catch fire. One fix GE was fond of doing was sending out a tech who would either wire past the switch to make it a permanently heated dry or cap it off and make it no heat. The slider would just stay there as a dead stick, just to fill the hole. I think that fix was geared at the rental/apartment owners as these were very popular in complexes.

Would be interesting to see how well this machine might work after sitting unused for such a long period of time...

And, equally interesting to see a performance test of such a machine!

(Or - A test of how much water remained in the local aquifer after a cycle)
