I have also tried the Remington Rotary razor and cleaner-charger station-what a peice of junk compared to the Braun.That Remeington does an excellent job of causing RAZOR BURN for me.I also like Norelcos-both the Braun and the Norelco are excellent razors.And I noticed that the Remington is made in China!!I liked the Made is USA older Remington shavers-those worked well.also miss and liked the "Sunbeam shavemasters"
I have a full beard, but I keep it well trimmed and I shave my neck and upper cheeks. Of my face, that is. The goatee part of my beard is very thick and a real chore to shave, otherwise. When I once did shave the beard, it was beyond the capability of the electric razors I tried.
I'm like Toggle, in that what I do shave, I do via a dispo razor and a mirror in the shower.
I keep the beard length trimmed with an electric hair clipper with a 1/2" attachment. Works for me.
However, I heard as long ago as the 1970's that Braun made the best electric shavers. Never did try one, though.

BTW Lawrence, I have a Philips (Norelco) beardtrimmer and I really like it. It's much better than the Braun ones I had before.

If you cut the lawn it makes the house look taller
this is a major misconception bout *manscaping*. if done delicately, the above statement can be somewhat applicable. however, its rarely done delicately. the lawn is often left looking butchered. a house is not a home without a lush lawn. LOL. Survey: who thinks this post went *too far*?

I've heard arguments in favour of manscaping, and it's like many other things in this life: If you like it, great, but don't ask me to do it!

Louis, thanks for the heads up about the Norelco trimmer. Lately I've been trimming my beard (between haircuts) free hand, with my Henckles scissors. Lesser scissors moan in defeat when they see my beard.

I tried a Norelco beard trimmer, but found it clogged too fast. Instead I use a Wahl Model 9797 Motor Clipper. It's the kind with an actual reciprocating mechanism, not one of those annoying vibrating numbers.

I had one just like Austin's Norelco at one time and really liked it (in fact I think I bought it in 1980). Had the 2 head one for a short time another time, it's just not the same. Later I had a Braun and I think it did do a pretty good job. The motor finally gave out after about 15 years.
I'd buy another Braun, and may one day for when I'm looking for something quick, but I do it manually the vast majority of the time. I use Schick razors, but they have two blades. Personally, I have not found the 3, 4, or 5 blade ones that abound any better, so I stick with them. They have a little thing between the blades to push to clean them, which I like.

I remember those old shavers. Of course, I didn't need to shave yet when those came out, but I "thought" they were cool... Until I got ahold of one with the "Lift and cut" feature... which should've been named "scrape and pull".. ARGH!!
I think as humas our faces like different ways of being shaved. Rotory razors irritate the hell out of my face whereas a foil shaver works perfectly. And some people like a good old-fashioned face-cutting manual razor. Remember the commercials for an electric razor where the guy was shaving as you heard the theme from Jaws? "dun DUN dun DUN dun DUN GOTCHA!"

Fairly heavy beard (saw a pic of meself once, looked rougher than I expected), but typically shave only every 2nd day. Occasionally go from Thu morn to Sun night, looks pretty bad, 'specially now that bits of gray are appearing.
Anyways, never tried electric. Use a SensorExcel (lube strip and rubber fins, but I run 'em until the lube strip is wayyy worm down so it's kinda pointless). Getting to seriously dislike shaving. Blades are too damn expensive for what they are. Don't care for the Mach design or triple-blade cartridges, harder to work under the nose and even more expensive. Bought a huge pump-bottle of Jack Black creme, it has lasted way more than a year. H-o-w-e-v-e-r, I've read that using a cheap *hair conditioner* works just as well ... which in fact I've been using up a bottle of Suave for a couple months now.

As for mowing lawns .... only the green stuff with a John Deere.
AND as for Braun, had an Oral-B 'lectric toothbrush that barely made a year. Gears jammed up. Hopefully their 'lectric razors are better.
