A lot of people remember Lever Bros's Breeze from the 1960s, when it had a towel in every box as a premium.

I was lucky enough to go on a Caribbean cruise last fall and was surprised to find it was still on sale...and made with phosphates!

It's a nice light blue color, although hard to tell in this picture. The little plastic bag held a cup and a half and the instructions seems to advise using all of it in one load. I held it down to 3/4 of a cup.

Of course, it seems primarily intended for people to use handwashing, in washtubs, and I doubt much of the target audience has a need for a "HE" product. They are trying to get everyone used to the presence of enzymes by saying it isn't necessary to rub the clothes as much.

I thought I had a picture of the instructions, but apparently not. Anyway as you may have guessed from the "splat" graphics, it is made by Unilever. In this case, the country of manufacture is Trinidad and Tobago.

Performance was excellent. If there was a way to get it cheaply, I wouldn't mind using it all the time. Too bad you have to go to the Caribbean to get it.

I could never get my mom to buy the old stff.

I always wanted to know how they got that towel (which looked big in the commercials) in the little box and how there could possibly be room for detergent, too!

Is this...

the original Breeze?

Found this at a tag sale a few years ago.

"Laundry soap in liquid form" "Use the same as soap chips"

It was made by the Synthetic Laboratories Co. Cleveland, Ohio. Could never find any info about it.

Guess they just couldn't get the towel in the bottle!
