Ok, this new feature I've been struggling with for a while but I think I have it working reasonably well enough now to release it out there for everyone to try.

You will notice that above the text input box for thread messages is a text formatting tool bar.  There are buttons for making your text like Italic, Underline, <strike>Strikethrough</strike>, colorized and Font and <font size="5">size</font>, along with paragraph formatting and bullet list tools.  I did not add a BOLD button because of the background wallpaper, all the text has always been set to bold here.   Using non-bolded text with some of the wallpapers makes the text hard to read for some of us.

Like all new features, this is activated only for upgraded members.

IE5, IE6, IE7 I have not been able to get the bugs out of this as of yet on these three outdated IE browsers.  If you wish to use this new feature please upgrade to IE8.  I haven't tested it yet on IE9, but there are very few users of 9 as of yet.

It appears to work beautifully on these, but do let me know if you have any issues.

It works almost as well as Firefire and Safari.  Again let me know what issues if you might find.

<span style="background-color: rgb(255, 0, 0);">For Opera users:</span>
Its a bit wonky, but works reasonably well.  You will notice the spacing might seem odd as you are typing in text in the input box.  Once you hit preview you will get a idea of how it will look and if anything needs to be fixed.

So go ahead, try it out and play.  Let's get creative here.

More nice new stuff!

I've got AOL 9.0, and it's not working here, at least I know why. I'm supposed to get Comcast next week, but come to think of it, I'll still have AOL. I might choose something later that will accomodate these things, but after what I just went through last month I'm really careful with what I add.

Help

Hi Robert,

In IE9 Native mode it doesnt work. When I enter a subject and message and click preview, I get an error stating that I cannot preview unless I've entered a subject and message. The message that I've typed then dissappears.

Then I cant type in the message field unless I click on a formatting icon first.

Also, the carriage returns dont auto scroll the text field down, I have to manually use the scroll bar so see the bottom of my test.

Am now trying in compatibility mode which disables the formatting toolbar, so we'll see how that goes when I hit preview.

Cheers

Nathan

Thanks Nathan, that was fast lol.

There are only two users of IE9 so far out of 600+ logged in members so that was a good coincidence that you were there and ready to test.

It should be disabled for IE9 now and back to normal.  Can you verify that for me?  Thank you :-)

Oh god no, they are reset with every post, otherwise it would make for a big huge mess.

I look into the centering issues which appears not work yet.  I'll be back!

You're Amazing!

Yay!! Seems to be working fine for me.

Stop doing that to your arms now all the sleeves on your dresses will have to be let out --- er, or cut off.

Crap, sundresses aren't in style in December!

A few minutes ago, I tried to post something. As always I composed the message, with a blank line between paragraphs generated by hitting the return key twice. In preview, the blank line vanished, and both paragraphs ran together. I tried several times, and even did the final post, and the same problem exists. Putting a space or period (which doesn't look good, but does look better than paragraphs running together) didn't work.
Browser is Chrome running on Debian 5 GNU/Linux.
