Bug Report #17 Let the Creativity Roll or Heaven Help Us All

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I believe I cleared up the large-font interline spacing issue.  Lets give this a try, it looks like I'm screaming lol.

Yay it works, I love getting to cross things off of my <span style="background-color: rgb(255, 204, 0);">to-do</span> list.

If something like that happens, just switch off the advanced editing bar and you should be able to post normally.

I'm still working out a few of the bugs, but with the bar off it is the old code and should work without any issues.

Can you email me the text you were trying to post, i would to debug/test it? Thanks!

The advanced editing bar on my is about always "greyed o

I think I have only seen the "bar active" every blue moon. is is always greyed out for me here.

This is with an Imac 20" from 2006 with 10.4.11 and Firefox 3.6.13 2Ghz 2 gigs ram Intel CPU duo . I mostly use all PC's and have been just using this iMac on the Internet in the last 10 months, and am not a Mac person at all.

3beltwesty, in the thread you had the problem, you typed:

In some web sites like this and others, a few folks swear that liquid detergent somehow degrades the aluminum FL washer's spider quicker than powder.

Here I have really had little issues with powders or liquids in my 1976 FL Westinghouse or 2010 LG FL washer

I suspect it wasn't the length of the text, but the text that came right after the word washer.  Do you have the original text saved?  In order for me to debug I need to know exactly what was typed after that word.  If you do can you email it to me at [email protected] I sure would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Is there a place on the Discuss-o-mat main page for a Latest Posts <font color="#000000">and <font color="#9999ff">My Posts</font></font> icons so one does not have to go all the way into a forum to get to these buttons?

Actually Peter, I'm planning on getting rid of that entire page and moving the rest of those page elements onto the top navigation bar.  I want that bar to be used across more of the site.

ISSUES! I use firefox & the bar is gray....cannot click!
Jared its gray for you because the bar is only available to upgraded users and to be upgraded you have to be over 18, which I'm pretty sure you are not yet.

Question for upgraded users:

Has anyone else had issues with disappearing text or other issues?

I've run into some problems with the advanced editing turned on.

I typed a long message (well, a few paragraphs) with it on. When I went to preview the message, only the first paragraph showed. I backed up and tried to do a cut and paste of the original message into the edit window, but it still truncated most of the post.

Finally I turned the advanced editing off and was able to paste the original message into the box, preview it, and post it in its entirety.

Just thought you'd want to know...

Thank you Rich for the report, a few users have reported something similar to me with long posts getting cut off after the first paragraph or two.  In order for me to debug this I need to know the text you were trying to post.  Can you tell me the thread and post # that this text resides?

Also did you copy the text originally (such as out of a word processor, etc) and paste it into the advanced editor text boxor was it typed completely in the advanced editor text box?

I've made some design changes to the site (a few more to come yet) to bring the site up to a more modern layout design that works well with both browsers and mobile devices.

Not to mention a new logo.

To fully see the changes be sure to hit SHIFT-Refresh both in the forums and on the home page.

So I did the shift-refresh on the home page and saw the new layout. I clicked on "Daily Double" to see what that was. After realizing I had to mouse down to the link for the picture of the day, I clicked on that. It showed me the woman looking into the washer. Then, clicked on the smiling washing machine which replaced the "Push" button and wound up back at the old home page. I was expecting to see the new one at that point.

Robert! FABULOUS work! The main page is top notch. You did a lot of work making that! My hats off to you!

Hi Rob,

I'm having similar problems posting both with the advanced editing bar and with it turned off... it keeps cutting random parts of text out from long replies.  Have tried in both IE and Mozilla and the problems are still there.

Cheers,

Jon

Thank you Jon for reporting this. A few others have also reported this to me.  When this happens to you can you please send me the text via email ([email protected]).  I really want to be able to fix this once and for all but I cannot unless I can replicate this bug.  It has never ever happened to me.

EVERYONE: IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH TEXT GETTING CUT OFF PLEASE SEND ME TEXT THAT YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS POSTING so I can use it to debug and get this fixed.  Its probably something minor, but I need to replicate it.

Thanks again.

Hi Robert,
My name is Brent and I have Issues.
Needing to log-in every time I leave and come back.
It is not remembering me "Automatically".

Discuss-o-mat....

Hi Robert,

Question: Is the "Discuss-o-mat" area(?) at the top and bottom of the page (next to the forum links) supposed to be a link too, or is it just let us know that is where the Discuss-o-mat links are?

Thanks!
Kevin

Brent that is a local issue, for some reason your browser isn't keeping its cookies.  If it keeps up send me a note and I will help you fix it.

<font size="3">Hi Kevin, I did this because this is the future of  web page formatting.  If you look at eBay or Facebook you see that their pages are all centered with big borders on both the left and right sides.  This is to accommodate all new kinds of devices such as the iPad, Droid, etc.  I don't want aw.org to fall behind if at all possible with all the new small web devices coming out.</font>

Hi Robert

Eddie here.

First and foremost, Thank you for all your help and the work that you are doing for this Great Place for all of us.

I, too have to Log In everytime I return. Not a biggy, but just was wondering if there is something to "fix" that on my end ? Thanks, Eddie

Morning guys, sitting here in the Florida sunshine this morning I think I figured out the bug that was deleting some text during preview with the Advanced Editing Bar on.  I move the code change in and hopefully that will take care of that.   ***fingers and eyes crossed***

As for having to log in when you every time you return in Chrome, when did this start happening???

Again, I do appreciate everyone's help with getting this stuff fixed.

Wear Sunscreen!

I bet you guys are going to get a nice tan!
The Password thing started at the same time the new look came about.
I use Firefox on both Mac and PC.
I did let Firefox "Remember Password" for the club.  Now when I click to sign in it takes me directly into the "Imperial" page.
Have fun in the sun!
Brent

Cool stuff. Seems to be hunkey-dory on my machines, iPad, iPhone, OSX 10.6.

I couldn't help myself.   Every time I see the Report button, my brain sees it as  "Rep ort". I thought it was text at first but then realized it was a GIF.  I fixed it.  My OCD feels better now.
