Calling All Corning Experts

This is a tale of two Corning Electromatic percolators. 

 

They appear to be identical SOL motif percs except for the markings on the back.  Can anyone advise which one is newer?  I'm leaning toward the one with the logo.  From what I've read on line, I've concluded that these are 1973 or later but clearly they were made in different production years.  Regardless, I think both pots were made around the period that sparked the recall, but neither has the tell-tale extra dot by the measurements inside the pot that would indicate the use of the new and "improved" failure-prone glue.

Here's a full length shot to display the style.  I think the one-piece cap was used on Electromatics that were produced toward the end of production.

 

Check it out:  This latest one I picked up for $5 had its trivet, which was thoughtfully secured to the carafe with mailing tape!  The trivet alone commands more than twice that price on ebay.

 

I brewed up a batch of Finish in it and the interior got sparkling white again.

My sister

got married in 1975.  A lot of her shower gifts had this motif with the French descriptions.  She still has the stovetop teakettle (1 qt.) "Le The' " and a couple of baking/serving pieces.  She does not have the coffeepot, but her other items look like it.  Hope this helps.

 

My OL had the electromatic skillet with the cornflower decoration, my sister's is the same but was purchased after 1975.

Hmmm . . . The difference in markings could be due to different factories. Corning Ware Pyroceram was made in Martinsburg, WV, Charleroi, PA and, per Wikipedia, Clinton, IL. The Spice o' Life Electromatic percolators were made from 1973 to 1976 according to The Complete Guide to Corning Ware & VISIONS Cookware.

I took a look at my earlier Cornflower type and it has the older cornflower logo on it along with other information, so maybe the SOL one with the logo is the older of the two pictured above -- if there is even an age difference.   It wouldn't be much of one.

 

I picked up the percolator yesterday to use as a possible trade towards one of the first generation Electromatics, or parts to assemble one of my own.  I have an early heating element but need the carafe and lid that will accommodate it.  I haven't checked to see if the basket assembly from a later one would fit.  Unfortunately, the carafes usually end up being the casualty while the elements that belonged to them survive.
