Calypso error code

I can't find my repair book....but I was wondering if anyone knew what "C1" stood for, or what is causing it......

it stopped mid cycle, and I had to reset for a rinse

it's under warranty, but I wanted to give them an idea of whats wrong, always seems to works perfect when their here for service

Usually C1 means that the machine is overloaded. Unplug and replug the machine, unload some of the clothes and try again.

now thats funny.....if the error code is correct....

I was only washing 4 towels on Normal.....

but I will unplug and try again, I was afraid of unplugging for fear that it would erase the code before the repair man got here

it could be that static charge that builds up, again, odd because this machine gets very little use....but we'll see

Allen must have looked up the service manual.

CI is Instantaneous Current Limit, meaning the motor board read a current spike of 26 amps (or higher) at the motor windings.

There's also CA which is Average Current Limit, current draw greater than 5.55 amps for 2 seconds average.

In addition to overloading, either one can be caused by a problem with the motor, thermal protector, or motor board. Or, I suppose with anything that puts an excess load on the motor, such as a mechanical problem with the u-joint or leveler or drive shaft bearings.

BTW, regards to the 'static charge' problem you reference now and in the past, my Calypso hasn't been unplugged in almost two years and has not malfunctioned in any way.

I still have this thing under a warranty for almost 2 more years, and each time they send a different company, who tells me the last guys don't know what their talking about, but in all reality, never had a real problem with the machine except for it coming on by itself, "static charge issue", and now this new code......this is the KQ2

the KQ1 is the one I had every issue with until Whirlpool replaced everything before it worked right....

I'll have them come out again, but I don't think I'm gonna unplug it this time, just to see what happens

Mine is a KQ1.  

I also have a KL0, not in use, stashed for refurbishment some day.

I'm brain dead, I have a KQO not a KQ1.....but anywho....a year ago I had issues with the pump stopping, or better yet getting stuck......bought a new one...$110.00...new design, can't seperate pump from motor, seemed like a better design, unit sat for about a year, gave it to my brother a week ago, pump wouldn't work....seized up...took pump out of machine, stuck my finger down the port, and moved the impeller, hooked back up, works perfect again....oddest thing, but at least I did not have to buy another pump....these are great machines, at least to me, when they are working right...

Dadoes is right, I looked up the answer in the manual. But rather than go into detail, I chose the most likely answer first.

Dadoes has more experience with these machines than I do. So I will defer to him about this.

BTW, what happened when you unloaded and unpluged and repluged.
Did it work? Just wondering....

CALYSO PROBLEMS

I have not had this failure code often on these great washers, it could be a tight mechanism bad main motor or even one of the boards. I have had one of these machines since they came out and I would never want to be without it. Just yesterday a dropped a full basket of vert dirty white socks kitchen clean up towels etc in it and pressed the whitest whites cycle, added a full dispenser of LCB and a healthy dose of regular powered Tide and when it was done everything was beautifully clean and there was no sent of bleach or detergent left in the clothes. I don't think I have ever had a washer that rinses better.
