Calypso Problem
Hi there. I know its been a while since the last replay to your post was made, but based on my experience with my Calypso, if for some reason there is difficulty with the lid switch opening, and not closing, the remaining time in the cycle will flash, and the controls will beep. Certainly a new lid switch is in order. Make sure you order the correct switch, which you probably already have. You had mentioned that you had bypassed the switch. I have found that with this machine (equipped with CAN electronic circuitry just like many of the newest automobiles), you cannot just bypass the lid switch. The main microprocessor looks for the lid switch status to change so many times over so many cycles. If it does not see this series of changes, the main controller will shut the machine down all together, and oops! You have a dead machine. I found out all this purely by accident while trying to bypass the switch to study the wash action and cycle operation. If you still have this machine and you need any further assistance, I would be very happy to help you if I can.
Incidentally, I would not recommend slamming the lid shut on this machine. It seems that Whirlpool didn't learn it's lesson when it came to the plastic mechanism that activates the switch. If that plastic doesn't break then the switch will.
