Dick, what a fantastic home! It looks like it would be great to entertain in. Be sure and keep us posted with your progress. That Flair range is perfect in the kitchen.

Hi, Don

Wow what a great looking home you have, And one of the best looking fridgidaire flairs that i have ever seen.

Your Royal Pinkness!!

I think my flair may be few years younger than yours. I would be surprised if some parts couldn't be swapped. Can't wait
to see the house!!! It looks fabulous!!

How would you replace one of these eye-level stoves that is built-in and sits on top of the cabinets? What would you replace it with?
(The sanme would apply to Tappan Fabulous 400,Kenmore Classic,GE Americana, etc.)

my "new" refrigerator

...is in place and runs like a charm and runs and runs and runs. It's quiet as can be and freezes ice cubes in no time. NOW, I guess I need a new thermostat as it doesn't shut off and when I checked the refrig temp it was 30 degrees. BUT I LOVE IT!

another shot

The shelves pull out, I love the crisper in the door and the aqua interior is fabulous.

Inside freezer door

I'm curious about the inside of the freezer door. It looks like it has four vertical dividers, and the middle two are adjustable. What would this be used to store, I wonder?

It doesn't look like the right size for frozen juice containers. Maybe half-gallon boxes of ice cream would fit perfectly? Maybe it would hold boxes of frozen vegetables, laid flat? Interesting!

replacing eye level range

Well, if it EVER came down to moving out the Flair and replacing it with another built in, I guess the bottom cabinet on which the Flair rests at the present time would have to be taken out as there would be no similar replacement available unless it would be another Flair or comparable unit from that era.

As I write this, the Flair is sitting in many pieces on the flagstone in the family room. My friend took it apart last weekend and tested it. He thinks it doesn't need all that much and is coming back this weekend to put it back together and see if the burners will fire up. He tested both saftey switches and says they are both fine. So....................I can't wait for tomorrow.

Oh, and about that freezer door-I would say it depends on what the owner needs to store in the door. Because two are adjustable-any sort of variations are possible. That's just the way I look at it.

speed burner

As of last weekend, there are now three burners working on the Flair. Only the speed burner is still out.
As a few members suggested that it might be a good idea to change out the speed burner with another infinite heat burner along with a new control switch--I've decided that is what I want to do.
NOW, the burning question is--Is the speed burner unit and a infinite heat burner unit one in the same???? Or is one a 220 burner and the other a 110 burner???
The Frigidaire manual gives them the same part number but is that a mistake or what?
I hope Tom Turbomatic sees this post.

And the Flair rides again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jim-thanks for your nice comments and may I say that as of a couple of hours ago the Flair is completely back together and running fabulously! Chris did a wonderful job and pics will follow within the next couple of days as I left my camera at the other house.

Dick S.>>>>Your House and Flair range...The refrigerator, .

I do not know you , I am new here on the aw.org, and I just live everyday for the pics, ETC, but the pics of the Flair range and your house are "COMPLETELY MODERN" and WOW !!! That great contemporary time of Design that was validated..A Favorite, and GREAT Time of Home Construction....Big Ranch Homes, different levels. Part of My family is in Carlsbad, NM, You are in Palm Springs. Had a friend their for Years, Kent Workely, and this reminds me of the late Fifties and their home and the home in Carlsbad. It was such a great Time in Contemporary Introduction/Construction....My description of "The Doris Day Era," >> James Garner at the sink in an APRON...YEA! APPLIANCES AND GREAT HOUSES. My family has been in the Interior Design Business for many years. (myself since 1973)>>>I am 56 and still at it, My Mother is 93, and is mentally perfect, has leg problems, but still involved with Design and Cosmetics for almost 70 years NOW...Hope to see more of your home as you settle IN...Thanks for the great Sunday morning WAKE UP !!! The "POD" GE KITCHENS, aren't they DELICIOUS? Mrs. W.J. Binns had the Turquoise Layout, only bigger.. somewhat. Her Husband Had "Binns Appliances" in Flushing, Ohio, friends of my mother. Mom always commented on the dishwasher, and the Washer&Dryer, SO CONVENIENT and easy to use, "IN THE KITCHEN"...she would say.

Your house looks like something I saw at the Seattle Worlds Fair in 1962. I think it was a house of the future type of thing in the GM pavillion.

Your home is very nice. I'm willing to bet that you are happy it is still in it's original shape. A lot of people would have torn out all that mid century design and updated it. But I think your's looks great as it is!

Thanks guys for all your nice comments and support. My foremost goal at this point is to enhance to the best of my ability on what I've been given to work with in this beautiful home.

I am so jazzed to have this wonderful Flair working once again. Can't wait to try out the ovens. This shot is with flourescent and 40 watt bulbs in each oven going.
