Could you elaborate on If its just the compressor thats changed or other parts relating to Hi-E compressor like expansion valve? Will the Hi-E Comp like the Embraco compressors fit as far as height. And would it be a guessing game to match the hi-e compressor Horse power to old one. Might there be a write up on doing the conversion. One thing though, it might cost lots more than its worth buying a Hi-E comp unless could find a good used one?
I understand the purist wanting to remain original but not for everything, esp a daily user with high watt useage and noise next to kitchen table.
As far as insulation it scares me to remove any plastic panels that snap in place, once cracked or broken its toast.

Mainly i just wanted the best guess on compressor hp, with NO oil cooler, Model #, and cap tube info for R12.

I'm afraid the 1/6 hp will be undersized but it's a small box cubic feet wise.
It's maybe 36" x 20" x 20" guesstimate.......
I'm figuring the 1/5 hp r12 low back pressure with NO oil cooler is a safe bet.
There's plenty of room physically.
That 1/4 hp worked for years but i always new from the pressures that it was slightly over sized.

BTUs are more important than HP, But a 1/6 HP compressor is probably more than big enough for an old manual defrost ref.

Yea, if i'd have ever been able to get the specs. on the original Westinghouse compressor i'd have all that, HP BTUs. etc.
That would be nice.
Somebody out there probably has the specs. by refrigerator model number but i've never heard tell of it.
Then again i haven't tried in the last 10 years.
I need to go get that Model # and try again.
