Hi all,
I have an opportunity to get the dryer to match my 1-18! But of course it's in Pennsylvania and I'm in California. Can anyone recommend a reliable and low cost shipping company? And how does this work? Do they pick up the dryer and pack it in something and then take it away? Any idea on the cost? Thanks!! James

Since Beltman shipping no longer deals with appliances, your next if not only choice may be Craters & Freighters. Other members may have other sources as C&F is quite dear for shipping. That being said they do a great job of crating, packing and moving large objects. IIRC UPS is now in the freight shipping business, but not sure if it is domestic and how it works.

Basically these shipping services will arrive, pack/crate and pallet your item and then ship it to you. Some use their own in house trucks, others contract/bid out the shipping to anyone going to where the item is going. You want to make sure how your item is being transported and who is liable for damages. Plan on paying any where from several hundred to a thousand or over for shipping a large and heavy item cross country.

I would call freightquote.com, their number is on the website, and talk to a representative. They have a few options to chose from. The way to save money is to drop it off at the shipping center and pick it up there too. You have to package it yourself as well, but it is less that C & F.

You might also try Eric's Shipping. He's at www.ericsshipping.com. I have never personally used him, but I have spoken to him on several occassions and the man knows his stuff. The two quotes he gave me were more than reasonable. He answers all calls personally, too. Nice guy. He can tell you what his routes are like in the coming weeks and how he can accomodate you. He packs, loads and delivers.

Thanks Everyone!!

For all the info...lot's to look into and I'll keep you all posted and let you know how it all turns out.

Thanks again!-- James
