So I picked up a matching set of Kenmores yesterday for a song with the intention of fixing up and using the dryer, and fixing and selling the washer. I paid for the dryer, the washer was thrown in for free.

The washer is direct-drive, but looks to be late 80's or early 90's? The dryer is a matching unit, which surprisingly is an early model of the dryer I had before. There is NO COMPARISON in how they work....the older one flat out SPANKS the modern one in terms of being quiet, speed of drying, and air being moved!

The Washer is a Model # 110.82872120 and the Serial # is CX2909902

The Dryer is a Model # 110.86872100 and the Serial on it is # MX3180437

A picture of the dryer is pasted below, the washer hasn't been cleaned up yet, and it's a MESS!!!! Oh the smell....it's gagging...

Mold and other problems caused by softener residue accumulation?

Detergent residue, fabric softner residue, mold, mildew, you name it. It has this gaggingly strong sweet/sick smell to it.

Couple that with the smell of burnt motor, and you've got one of the most vomit-inducing smells I've ever encountered. I can't believe people do their laundry in a machine so filthy!!
