I never made honor society or anything like that. I was too busy being bullied and traumatized by the other kids. You know you have it bad when even the NERDS pick on you. I shoulda been one of them but they outkasted me because of my birth defect. And who did I hang out with? The 2 or 3 other losers that nobody else liked. School was horrible for me and I was and am still glad it's over with. Yeah, school sucked.

Sorry for the rant, congrats again.

BTW: Austin, I never made the deans list,however I made it to the deans office quite a few times in high school! LOL!! Made it through college without any problems though. (:

I never liked school and never made any list but the all those who tardy list, (96 days in RED) for being late!

Now being a ex-bus driver, I know what it means to be on time, for if you missed my bus you're too late.....

Just wanting to add my Congratulations to the thread, that takes a lot of hard work, and an ability to stay focused on what is important. With all the negative peer pressures these days, the fact that you maintain that kind of average and still balance your life so well shows how sucessful you will be in life!! My hats off to you all!

Thank you all so much for your kind words! I don't know if it's harder these days to be a teenager or the parents of a teenager!

While Tom (Mr. Venus LOL) and I would like to take all of the credit, a lot of it goes to Austin! Sometimes I have to be the drill sergeant and referee with both of the kids, but they are really great! If they grow up as happy, well-adjusted, productive adults, we will have done our job!

Carol: Girl, if you have a 14 year old daughter, you are hereby nominated for sainthood! LOL Mine is almost 11, and I am dreading those "catty girl" years already! LOL

College Plans?

Any thoughts about college yet? (I didn't know where I was going to go until a month before my Freshman year started, when I finally decided on U of Iowa) Texas has some great schools - I used to go to the Big Ten Rowing Camp every spring in Austin, and LOVED that town! It's a wonderful university as well.

My first years out of college were spent working for U of Iowa, and I somewhat regret leaving. I really enjoyed working with college students, and the excitement of a college town. We have the UW here, but it's not the same - the city is too big, and the school is too geared towards grad students.
 
WOW, Austin that's sooo very wonderful that you made it into the National Honors Society. We're all very proud of you here! I'm sure you put lots of time and energy into your work and its well deserved. Congratulations again.

Just in case the 11 year old young lady ever gets out of hand, I'll let you in on a secret, in addition to the special vacuum room two stories under the house accessable only by elevator and special code, I run the Charlotte franchise of, "The Joan Crawford Young Ladies Finishing School."

All graduates say "Mommie Dearest" and they MEAN it or they come for another semester. We mix the right amount of "love and discipline" as Joan did with her children. Your daughter will have a whole new appreciation for Bon-Ami Cleanser and wire hangers.

So keep us in mind for the future. You can drop off daughter, pick up a new Air-Way and be back on your way to Texas in time for dinner!

(Now for you folks that have childhood issues, please do not take me to task---just a little levity and God knows, the world sure can use more of that.)

I'm glad my mom never heard of that Joan Crawford finishing school! I know you find it hard to believe, but I was a little terror! Did I ever tell you about the time I stuck a hairpin in the wall outlet, hit my sister in the head (causing her to require stitches), or drove my mom's car when I was unlicensed?

Since the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree, I may get in touch with you in about three years. By then Hayley will be ready for a little finishing, and I will be ready for that Air-Way! LOL

BTW: I really do hate wire hangers!
