Joan dahling.....do you have room for one more?

Whoa Charlie!

I'm glad my mom never heard of that Joan Crawford finishing school! I know you find it hard to believe, but I was a little terror! Did I ever tell you about the time I stuck a hairpin in the wall outlet, hit my sister in the head (causing her to require stitches), or drove my mom's car when I was unlicensed?

Since the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree, I may get in touch with you in about three years. By then Hayley will be ready for a little finishing, and I will be ready for that Air-Way! LOL

BTW: I really do hate wire hangers!

Acorns falling from the tree...

in reading the posts between Charlie and Venus I was reminded of a story my own mother told me. In my teen years we locked horns over many things, and I remember after one arguement she looked at me and then heavenward and said "There you go dad your wish came true"
Well I was totally amazed and so I asked what that was all about. Seems mom and her father had some rough times when my mom was in her early 20's and at one point my grandfather told her "I hope when you have your own kids you get one as stubborn as you"
I never knew my mom's father, he passed away 7 years before I was born. Mom says his prediction came true in me.

I think there's a divine reason I am of the orientation I am...

Venus.....................

Darling,

I am sitting here laughing thinking about the hairpin in the outlet, your sister getting clobbered and you manhandling the car!

My dear, your work is cut out for you. If all fails, send Miss Haley to Charlotte and I'm sure we can help her find the correct way.

Signing off still laughing,

Charlie

Thanks again guys! Charlie, I like your idea of the Joan Crawford "Finishing School"...is a "P's & Q's at the Table" course included in the package? ;-)

To put things in a different perspective, here's a group picture.

And here's one more showing off the retro-1970 auditorium...notice the rounded ceiling and "sound slats" in the walls. All classrooms in the old section have interesting brick designs right next to the doors, acting as "windows". Really neat...will have to snap a covert picture sometime.

Special Teen-ager

I knew Austin was a "special" kid when I saw the pic of his room. Immaculate, no "Megadeath" or "Metallica" posters on the walls. Driving a pickup truck instead of the latest "cool" car. I think all this boes wel for the future.

YAY Westy

Austin, Congrats on becomming a member.. I have a lot of friends that were members..
If your thinking about a college in the Chicago area, and want a tour guide around town I'm your man =)

I'm "a day late and a dollar short" here, but I wanted to extend my congratulations to you, Austin, as well as to your proud mom. I am on the NHS selection committee in my community, so I know the standards, both personal and academic, which you have to meet in order to be selected----not to mention the paper you have to write on the theme of 'service'. Well done, Austin!! As much as pop culture would like to argue otherwise, high achievers ROCK.

Austin, you should feel very proud of your accomplishments. I wasn't in NHS although my oldest sister was. I was, however frequently on the dean's list and I don't mean that in a good way either. I had a couple of intense after school meetings consisting of myself, the headmaster and his "board of education".
