Louis, thank you for your information. I have searched the internet but couldn't find the historical reason. I have always thought that it was because of the weather. The end of July and the beginning of August is the warmest time of the year and therefore best suited for outdoor events with "lightly dressed" people. What I did find, however, is that there is also a leather pride in November. Never heard of that before.

Miele repairman...

I know that shop! It is a 15 minute walk from my house and I've actually considered buying a new washing machine there. I didn't know anything about the background of the owner. The reason that I bought an Asko was just the weight of the machine. I like to personally maintain and repair my appliances and the Miele was just a bit too heavy for me. If I had seen this article earlier I might have bought another Miele

He seems like a nice guy. I mailed a few times with him, mainly because I found it funny that my alias foraloysius and his name Aloys were almost alike.

He was also the first Miele dealer to sell the new Miele models.
