Reaching out to my brothers and sisters at Automatic Washer.Org. I had a customer buy a Speed Queen Washer and Dryer that was to be delivered tomorrow she called just before I left work and said that she wanted to cancel the order, she said the reviews from consumers reports were horrible some of the rateings were as long as five years ago, wanted to get my washing machine family's spin on it. Thanks, Mike

What is your policy?

Do you allow customers to cancel like that? Is there a fee?

Tell her to come read here. That's how I made my decision.

Customer is crazy to listen to Consumer reports. My Speed Queen top load washer and matching dryer are great, one of the best I have ever had, and I would recommend to anyone, and I have plenty of people who took my recommendation and are very happy with their purchase ase well. Customer should read the comments on this site instead with many more people who know what they are talking about!

Zero tolerance

The woman is an ass!! If she read the customer reviews on CR or Google customer reviews she would see that they are stellar performers. Please at least charge her for her stupidity! My Awn542 and matching dryer are 5 years old, my mother has a set and so does my brother!
Mike
Remember, charge her for her stupidity!!

Her loss

Point her to some youtube vids, I have about a dozen of this stellar machine in operation.

Wish her well and good luck with her purchase...

You're likely time & money ahead letting her go.  Once she's convinced herself what you're selling isn't up to CR (her) standards, she'll be a troublesome customer.

She'll find out on her own that you had a superior product and will come back to you in time and be loyal customer forever.

Actually, she should just look at the user reviews at CR's website. They are overwhelmingly positive. The machine scores poorly because it doesn't clean their heavily-stained test load in cool water as well as some HE top-loaders, which have 40-60 minute wash periods (compared to SQ's 14 minutes), it uses more water/energy than HE machines, and it doesn't have the jumbo-sized capacity of some HE machines.

It is frustrating that a machine of high quality looks so bad in CR's ratings because of their scoring protocol. It's a great, traditional top-loader. If that's what she's used to using, she should stick with Speed Queen.

Oh, well. You'll probably wind up selling her a SQ set in six months when she wants to throw her GE impeller-based top-loading washer off the roof.

Actually Frig

I was calmer than I usually am when some casts asparagus on my beloved Speed Queen!

BTW did you ever give Nellies a try? I posted my review on Oxydol; it was a bust to say the least but I have coloreds to wash and this time I will use 3x what is recommended and see if that makes a difference.

Customer is an IDIOT!!!Probably just as well-you may not be able to keep her happy-Let her buy some other DRECK from somewhere elese! You probably won't be able to convince her of SQ's better quality and ACTUAL performance. The customer isn't going to get her nose out of her CU magazine.

When I worked at a local appliance store in Florida,we would post signs saying "No refunds on any special orders." There were a few appliances , mostly built in items, ordered with the wrong dimensions given us by customers. We'd reorder the correct product AND charge a 20%restocking fee along with whatever the difference was in price. That kept us from getting burned.

The restock fee would make sense if the item was ordered that you don't normally stock-SOMEONE has to pay the return shipping-and then will the distributer take the item back?If not you have to try to sell it to someone else to recover the your purchase and shipping costs.

Sounds to me like she is using that as a weak excuse to get out of a case of buyer's remorse. I would say either she decided she didn't want to spend the money or found something cheaper... Regardless, if she wants a new top loading set, she will be disappointed she didn't buy them. Someone that really puts stock in Consumer Reports reviews would have checked them out before making the purchase... Not the day before delivery.

The woman probably hasn't read CR if ever before. She still thinks they are the end all to be all in the way of Consumer Reporting. We know better.

I agree with everyone else, she should have checked with us.

A herhoid

Just spray her with Prep H, and you will be able to watch her shrink and disapear right before your eyes. Presto Changeo!
Hugs,
David

The only other person I've heard use the phrase "cast asparagus".

Politely, the shopper in question is malinformed. About her purchase, her data source, and laundering in general. Sounds like she got flimflammed by a banana oil salesman.

Worst and most difficult to redeem, she is malinformed about her worthiness at decision making and would almost undoubtedly defend it against the most knowledgeable counsel.
