please can everyone tell me why my new candy grand washer 3 hours on a 40 cottons wash and 4 hours on a 60

because everything that the Hoover/Candy company have done in the last 5 years has been stupid? Lol.
A lot of modern machines take a stupidly long time. Have you checked the manual? It should have all the wash times on the program descriptions. Maybe there is a similar, yet more reasonably timed cycle that you haven't found yet?

Check also the Bosch Logixx 8, they take so long too.

Unlike Zanussi, Candy has ever been on the cheap side. Nice ideas, maybe nice look but poor build quality.
Have to say that in the seventies some Candy series (C13X) were even worse than current machines.
Probably the very only quality product made by Candy Group are true Rosières made ranges, e.g. La Bocuse series, not other rebadged Candy stuff

If you have a machine that is expected to wash 8 or 9kg of laundry in a drum that can in reality hold 6kg, I guess the wash times have to be increased considerably to compensate for the reduced wash action. Didn't the early 6 and 7kg Hoover machines have a button to increase the wash times so that it could actually clean the stated amount of laundry? I'd have thought that was proof enough the drum can't take these load sizes!
I dread to think how creased and tangled clothes must end up if you fill one of these to the claimed capacity.

Is there a seeting to boost wattage consumed simultaneousy?
Maybe the machine is set for another country where the mains only hold/deliver a limited wattage/capacity.

Can you tell us what was the actual wash programme you used, and if any further options where selected??
And was it a full capacity wash load??

Wattage is 2000 W today all over europe
maybe some series sold only in northern europe still have a 3000 W coil. Anyway the old Zerowatt I have in the garage fills up to *half glass*. Despite of the 2000 W coil its boilwash cycle is 2 hour long. So these new machines that maybe use 1/4 of that water don't have problems.
Methinks Matt has just pointed out the matter : vintage machines had 1:10 or even 1:11 load ratio. These new stuff-my-drum things have 1:8 - 1:7 load ratio . E.g Bosch Logixx 8 : 8 Kg / 65 cu dm = 1/8 . Vintage Bosch combo : 6 Kg / 62 cu dm = 1:10

Nothing strange about the cycle times there, the Hoover Vision that I used to have had really long cycles for the Cotton and Synthetic cycles. The Sensitive Care, or Allergy Care ( on the Candys') option also added at least another hour to the cycle, as it would extend the wash time futher due to having the reduced wash action, then a total of 5 rinses, so I didnt really use that option much!
I also did find that the Time Saver option would be too short for alot of washing, in most cases as soon as the water had finished being heated to 40*c for example it would drain, so it was very hard to find a half way point with that machine in terms of cycles, the Hoovers I feel are the worst for programming - Many of them (Including the one I had) automatically added a Pre-Wash to the Synthetics cycles and I never use that option, seemed very wastefull, esspecially now considering we're meant to be washing more economically these days - totally defeats the object I think personally.
From what Ive seen however on the Candy machines you can have a Synthetics cycle without a Pre wash which is better than what mine was like at least. Also what I found suprising with my Hoover was that the cycles could be that long, and still not do a fantastic job, it was better that some other machine I've had, but it didnt warrant cycles lasting over 3 hours I must say!

hi guys thanks for all your repleys the water preasser is very good indeed i like what you said about the old candys that they take about 2 hours on a boilwash i use cottons 40 with no options the options are fast wash allergy care and a stain button that add more time too the wash my old candy active 1300rpm washer that took about 1 hours and 30min on a cottons 40 cycle i will get a picture of the old candy and put it on here
