That was because the Alisé WD28's missed a safety thermostat for overheating in the drying system. It was one or two fires caused by this, but they were called back, and got new thermostats. I know the guy who got the job to put on those thermostats in the entire Norway! He spend over a year doing this. He went all over the country. And it was ONLY ONE who did this in Norway, therefor it took pretty long time to get finished with a whole country.

Were there not adverts which featured "Candy - Can do" as the slogan?
I remember the pantomime-like dishwasher one with the Cinderella-type skivvy and the ugly sisters (early 1990's). Something like:
Cinderella despairing at cluttered kitchen.
UGLY SISTERS: "We want all these dishes done, for when we return for lunch at One."
Ugly sisters depart; Fairy Godmother appears and zaps up the Candy. Kitchen left in a clean condition; Cinderella ecstatic:
"Candy - Can do", sung as the tagline.

Just discovered a picture of a Candy Alise 16WD - never heard of 'formula inox' before...

formula inox is just what stands for " stainless formula" ! I had one of these. It didn't wash nor dry very well... The "egg shaped" tub is not only a feature found on Candy machines. Miele had (i don't know if still has it...) on their series 700/800/900 machines. I do not understand where the claimed Candy water saving is. In my opinion if you have the bottom part of the tub farer from the drum then you need to have more water to reach the drum itself,isn't it? The more water you have to heat the more is the consumption... There must be not obvious reasons to make such shaped tubs...
