Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

This whole thread is just fascinating!

Thanks for sharing Darren, thanks A LOT.

Just love the same but not same Kenmores, Whirlpools, and GEs. And an Admiral belt-drive! W O W !! I would have had to figure out how to get that one home if I were up there with you.

The parts similarity, but then again NOT similar in these machines is amazing. The baskets have their perfs start up higher on the basket walls, at least they look that way, especially in the large cap. Some look more gradually rounded on the bottom edges, more like DD baskets.

The softener dispenser is all Kenmore, but then it isn't too, as U.S. Kenmores have four or five times the raised vertical lines on the sides. They must have built a Canadian mold for these, but not paid the $$ to cut the engravement for the many lines that were only decorative.

LOVE the Francais on the panels too.

Oh, on the Kenmore with the DA and the softener dispenser - that is pretty much exactly what we have/had here Darren. In about 1984 a bunch more dividers/mixers were added to the top opening, but the one in the pic looks exactly like what was included here from 1976/77 ish to 1983.

Thanks again Darren!

The Electrolux 89 seemed to be in nice condition! I have two like that but mine are a bit older and have unpainted aluminum trim at the top. Both of mine have small dings, one lacks the power nozzle but the other one has the 2 position light green power nozzle, a telescopic wand and the shag tool that I never used! I don't really collect vacuums but I have a few Electrolux and a pink Hoover Constellation, all Canadian made except a Golden Jubilee (some US Electrolux vacuums were sold here briefly in the seventies)...

To continue on Canadian appliances, here's a Kenmore dishwasher with French/English controls.

Inside the dishwasher. John, are there similar Kenmore dishwashers in the US?

It's similar to the RCA Supreme above. I guess it's a bit newer since it has a "start" button. It's from 1974.

With a strange French translation for Permanent Press! "Apprêt Permanent" would translate into "Permanent Primer". Or maybe it's because Whirlpool improved the paint coating at the back of their dryer drums and they wanted the French-speaking customers like me to know!

I could post a few Canadian Frigidaires again but this time, I won't!

That Kenmore dishwasher is pure Whirlpool.  So much so that it kept the utensil basket in the door.  Here, the U.S. branded Whirlproduced Kenmores (UltraWash) moved the utensil basket inbto the bottom rack and gave the bottom rack a bull-nose design atht eh front of the basket next to the door.

Thanks for the info Bob.

I used to have an undercounter Kenmore like the one I pictured. It had two door-mounted utensil baskets, no French writing on the otherwise identical control panel (and the pilot light was at the center of the panel rather than near the timer knob) and the plastic screen over the pump was white rather than blue (and so was the upper spray arm and tower).
