I've searched all over the web to try to figure out how to get this thing to budge. Here's what I've tried:

1) Banging on it with a flathead screwdriver and hammer (no movement).
2) Adjustable plumber's wrench (might have worked but the handle is too long to get at it properly).
3) Non-adjustable plumber's wrench, both with muscle power and banging it with a hammer.

I applied tons of WD-40 while trying with the non-adjustable plumber's wrench to no avail. The thing just won't move!

Although I'm a wimp, I had three buff teenage boys try to get it to move too and they couldn't, either. My husband's on the other side of the planet on business, but the kids are stronger than he is anyway. ;)

Any hints? I have a cold chisel, but I'm afraid that if I use that I'll just break the little square cut-outs.

Thanks for any suggestions.

No, otherwise I probably wouldn't be having this problem. ;) What I do have is 5 kids (not all mine!) and a colossal mountain of laundry which is only going to get larger while I wait for the wrench, which I suppose I'll have to order tomorrow if I can't get this thing off tonight. My neighbor is a plumber and I thought he might have one, but no such luck--he'd never even heard of it.

So any ideas as to how to get it off without the wrench would be appreciated.

Call Sirois and Sons appliance repair in Nashua. They are in the local phone book. This guy is great. Very good workmanship and dependable. Very resonable. He takes care of everything in my house after warranty is up.

If it doesn't agitate or spin, but the motor runs, prolly the motor coupling has snapped. If that's the case, you don't need to remove the tub. Is that the problem, or has an article of clothing made it's way between the 2 tubs?
