I was off this week and bored so I decided to clean up my car real good. I used to do this a lot but no that Im older( And fatter) it doesn`t get done all that often. I had added a set of custom wheels and detailed the engine and added dual exhaust. I wanted to get it out today and show it off a bit, so I went antiqueing and to the thrift store and found my first model G Electrolux for $8.00, and it runs very quiet. I recently bid 70.00 on one like it on Ebay and lost. Never know what you`ll find in your backyard!

Pimped out Riviera

Wow! A good-looking car to begin with made even better by dual exhaust and those great rims!! In the parking lot at Wally World and under the hood she looks brand new--great job!

Congrats on the Model G find as well! Amazing...some of the best stuff is right where you least expect it!

Beautiful job on the car, I've always loved the Riviera - 1984-85 would be my model of choice but they are all beautiful!

Congrats on the "G"! I always keep my eyes peeled for them - lost a bid at an estate sale a few years ago but I won't pay the prices on ebay!

Don, The car looks great!! You will love the Electrolux model G. I have the turquoise one and the tan one like you have. My favorite vacuum and the one I use the most when I really want to do a good cleaning. When that machine runs you can hear the quality, much like an older Maytag. Did you get the power nozzle with it? Terry

And...Electrolux actually made a commercial version (called the Hospital G) of the Model G! Charlie Lester's website has a ton of information on these beauties...even quieter than the other Electroluxes with that cool filter in the back!

I've seen and bid on a few Hospital G's on eBay (that would be the only version I would buy), but OY, those prices! Next time one pops up...:)

The Hospital G's had different color schemes than the household machines, and there was even a tan version as well!

Thanks guys! Terry I got a newer power nozzle with it that works great( I`ve been vacuming!) but i also have an older one and the hoses. Im always looing for these but hardly ever see one. Austin that hospital G is really neat, I think that extra filter made it quieter. But mine is very quiet. I did a demo at mom and dads and they were inpressed.(Actually they think I`m crazy!) Ha! Herr it is after a little cleaning.

Hi Don, I know that you are going to love this machine. Electrolux at its finest!! Glad that you have a power nozzle or two to use with it. Looks like it is in really good condition. My aunt got this machine brand new in 1968. Paid $199.00 including the power nozzle. I always wished that I had kept that one but am very happy that I got the one I have. Terry

Yes love those Lux "G" series machines. the Hospital G is the holy Grail of them.also was this considered one the earliest "HEPA" type vacuums-Can the exhaust filter be cleaned and reused-or do you have to replace it after so much use?Also-is the motor in the Hospital models larger or more powerful to compensate for the exhaust filter? They seem like they would really be fantastic machines.
