Hi All:
Just found Carbona Stain Wizard pre-wash stain remover at our local discount bonanza store. It says "extra strength bio-enzyme formula gets out more stains!" It's clear liquid (like Shout) and is made in Germany. I used some on a big blood stain (cut my finger) and on some greasy tomato stains (missed my mouth) and all came out without a trace. Does anyone have any experience with this stuff? Did I strike gold or would Shout have done the same thing? Launderess, would you lend your expertise?

I am also interested in Launderess' comments.
However, my first boss used to own a restaurant. He swore by Carbona to remove stains. Never heard of it until he sent me to the store to buy it. That was 30 years ago but always remembered that Carbona was a great stain remover. I remember it coming in a dabber-type bottle - much like shoe polish.

Let me jump in here, does anyone know how the new Spray and Wash and Shout differs from the older pressurized can versions? I bought a case of the older version on eBay a while go, didn't think the new versions did as good a job. Running low.

Any suggestions for a good product to replace it?
 
I remember the Carbona stain remover that was a clear liquid in a dabber type of bottle. If I remember all it was is Carbo Tetrachloride in a bottle. It was good at stain removal, but realy gave off a chemical odor! This was back in the 1960's.

I find that the Spray & Wash in the spray can isn't as good as the Spray & Wash in the spray pump bottle.

IIRC is now a banned substance for household use (causes cancer), and thus why you don't see much of it for at home stain removal treatments. If I'm not mistaken the stuff was really a version of dry cleaning fluid in a bottle.

Am using the same old bottle of "Shout" tigger spray have had for ages now, so cannot tell you how good the "new" stuff is versus the old. In general find spray stain removers better at solvent type stains such as ink, or lipstick, while the enzyme based trigger sprays for food and protien stains. Have tons of vintage Fels Naptha soap bars which I use for the former type of stains, and it does a smashing job. Removes lipstick, ink, magic marker, dye bleed stains, oil, grease, and that sort of thing. I just love the smell of Naptha in the morning! *LOL*

I remember the old Carbona in a glass bottle with the applicator top. It was a sort of dry cleaning fluid, and my dad always had some on hand. It's probably why he died of cancer. This new Carbona Stain Wizard is very different, similar to Shout and Spray n' Wash. I think I might have to do my own "consumer reports" comparison in my spare time. Like I have any!
