I just got a box of Cascade "with the grease fighting power of Dawn". I noticed a few things don't come out completely clean. Most do, but the failure rate seems higher than before. Is it my imagination?

I haven't bought any for a month or two

I am due as I only have one packet left. I haven't noticed anything different in the old batch. I use the Orange sented packets. I didn't care too much for the oxygen bleach formula, but all in all I have had better luck with Cascade than any other brand.

To give the devil it'd dues, I liked the performance of Electrosol/Finish, but don't like having to unwrap the tablet each time. I like the convenience of just dropping the whole think into the cup like I do with Cascade.

Electrasol guy here

I snap up boxes of Electrasol when it's on sale. Right now have three or four boxes, hence enough for months. Never have a chance to try other brands. I use the two-part Electrasol tabs, not the PowerBall tabs, since I faithfully fill the rinse agent dispenser with Jet Dry or the equivalent Cascade product. I have a six year old Bosch Integra (model 33 or something....quick, regular, and power scrub plus cycles) and everything comes out clean. There is a decal in the door edge that says "Bosch recommends Electrsol tabs and Jet Dry" and it's always worked for me in this machine.

PS yeah, I know the new name for Electrasol is "Finish", but for now I have to use up all the remaining Electrasol tablets first. ;)

Cascade is all right....

...but I still think that Wal Mart's Great Value, Target's own brand and the Everyday Living sold at Fred Meyer (Kroger) can best it....in our dishwasher anyway.

I HATE CASCADE!!!! It ruened a set of old glassware I had with a matching pitcher from the 50's!It left a white film on all of them as well as all the other clear/see through glass items I had in there.P7G offered to send me coupons for more Cascade. I screamed at the girl on the phone and hung up on her.I have since used Electrosol/Finish and it's been years since I used Trashaid.

Are we talking the powder or 2 in 1 action pacs? I find with silverware and knives that it leaves rust spots or even grease spots. Not all the time but I do get them from time to time. I bought Cascade all in One where it has the rinse aid built in and the prewash additive as well. So far it cleans well...I think its just Cascade Complete in disguise. Much like the Cascade Advanced Power detergent powder. most of the time I use powders and every so often I will use Electrasol Tabs with the power prewash ball. My fave tabs are the Miele ones. They clean up a storm.

I'm talking about the powder form. It still works great for me, but I just am noticing a few things not coming out as good as before.

we just started using it.....

My wife just got a new box of Cascade and it has the Dawn in it. I'll let you know what I find after some washes. I did one washload today and everything looked great, so no issues so far, but will let you know.

Robert,

LOL! Where did you find the "Casket" ad?

Laundromat,

Sounds like that glassware OD'd on detergent. That is, too much detergent, not enough dirt, so the combination of very hot water and lots of high alkaline chemicals etched the glass. This is irreversible, although I suppose it might be possible to polish off the etched layer - with great difficulty.

Vastly prefer Cascade "Pure Rinse" over Electrasol tablets. Both the Powerball and regular variety caused massive amounts of foam in my dishwasher.

Cascade PR and even Cascade Complete powders give darn good results, and unlike tablets can adjust the dosage to suit load size and soil level.

Robert, LOL! Where did you find the "Casket" ad?

Rich, it's a 1970s Wacky Package from Topps Chewing Gum. You would buy a package and you got a piece of gum with six or eight different stickers inside. I used to put these stickers all over my school notebook covers when I was a kid. They had parodies for hundreds of supermarket products.

Thanks, Robert. Never heard of the "whacky" bubble gum stickers. Interesting.

For what it's worth, I've switched from Kirkland powder (bad post-wash odors) to Cascade Advanced power powder, and it works very well without offensive aromas. I think it works slightly better than the Kirkland did. I've tried Walmart Great value and didn't see much difference.
