hello all, well, since all the big problems with dishwasher detergents... mostly cascade, since phosphates have been removed i was wondering if anyone knows if cascade professional powder for foodservice still has phosphates? i know the phosphate ban does NOT pertain to commercial and foodservice. on another note i have tried finish powder lemon scent and it works fabulous!!!

Cannot Speak For Elsewhere

But here in NYS the ban on phosphates applies to domestic and commercial dishwashing products. Only difference is that the later was given a bit more time to comply with new laws.

Just so you know, the state also tightened up the ban on laundry products awhile ago as well; so commercial products, formerly exempt from the ban on STPP now must get with the plan. If you look at offerings from Ecolab and others that still produce industrial laundry detergents with phosphates, you will see something along the lines "..... not for sale in NYS.....".

...and the good news is--

There's tons of Cascade powder with lots of phosphates still available in the discount stores. Just saw some Cascade COMPLETE powder in our local ODD LOT stores here in Connecticut. It's expensive for a discount store box, $6.25, but it's big. Coincidentally, the phosphate % is 6.25 grams per use! Am thinking of stocking up on it but I don't know how long I can keep powdered detergent like that fresh.

Maybe a little less than that...

The boxes say the formula is "6.4% phosphorus, in the form of phosphates, which is equivalent to 1.0 gram per tablespoon." 4 tablespoons fill my dispenser so that would be 4 grams per use....or 8 if you fill both cups! Lol.

I started stocking up over a year ago, and the worst thing that's happened to the oldest boxes is a few lumps. Pouring it into another container and shaking it up took care of that. It still works beautifully. I wouldn't hesitate to put some aside.

The "Grocery Outlet" stores here have been carrying phosphated Cascade for a number of months, however they've run out of the smaller more convenient sized boxes. Now all they have left at the one near me are 11-pound boxes for $6.99 each.

cascade

well, i just got an email back from P&G which stated that even cascade for foodservice will be phosphate free. oh well, i give up on cascade, i have been trying finish with FLAWLESS results and it is phosphate free! that tells me that cascade still doesn't have the non phosphated formula right and it doesn't look like they plan on reformulating it anytime soon which made me decide on forgetting about the brand completely! cascade complete is a COMPLETE mess!!! i use finish powder but am currently trying finish quantum tabs, kind of expensive but we will see the results. my question is... how is it possible reckitt and beckner (sorry for the spelling) can go phosphate free with NO issues yet proctor and gamble goes phosphate free and has a complete MESS?? that tells me that there was NO testing done prior to releasing the new product.
