Strange design-but bet that will REALLY "Paddle" the clothes and move them around!!Too bad the WASHER doesn't go with the agitator!The agitator alone isn't much fun-but with the Apex washer-no THAT would be fun and useful!

When the tub was filled to a low water level, the agitator provided very gentle agitation for delicates according to the ads. I'll be the holes really caught lint making it the first lint filter agitator. It is amazing to look back at old ads for many things and see how so many different designs were thought up and put into production.

If you look closely at the eBay picture, the agitator has a serious break in the top of one of the vanes.
