Automatic cat poop cleaners

They don't work. We had the Littermaid Ultra or whatever it was (to fit our huge Ragamuffin cat). It worked well for a while but then became a pain in itself to clean and maintain. It finally wound up getting jammed all the time so we went back to scooping every day.

Is it really possible to train a cat to use the toilet?

ABSOLUTELY!

My mom told me years ago she used to have a cat which they had trained to "go" in the toilet.

I've heard of other people with similarly trained cats!

i think cats are great pet to have. But the shit box...i could never have that in my house.EVER> not matter how self cleaning or whatever.

but it is hard to teach them to flush...

Having once had cats, and having had to deal with the "joys" of the litter box, I'd have to say that the cat not flushing the toilet would be a small price to pay to get rid of that litter box.

Besides, there is a possible problem with the cat flushing. Cats, being the way they are, might find it entertaining to watch the toilet flush. And decide that there really is nothing better to do than sit, and repeatedly flush all day long. Running up a sky high water bill, or causing a small flood in the process.

Do you mean like this?

That clip was what I was thinking of.

I thought of another "cat in the bathroom joy" while watching that clip: the cat having fun with toilet paper. Growing up, we had a cat who liked toilet paper so much that we ended up keeping it in a cupboard at all times.
