Earlier this afternoon I noticed on of our cats was missing. I wasn't concerned at first, sometimes they will just find a quiet spot and hide out for a little while. After awhile she still hadn't shown up, now I'm starting to worry a little. I check all the doors and windows everything was fine. By this time I'm really starting to worry, started calling for checked under the beds with a flashlight, check closets and cupboards.

Went to go down to the basement to get some blankets that I had washed, dried, and folded. There she was all curled up on the blankets acting as if nothing has happened. This is the first time in the five years that I have lived here that this cat has ever gone down to the basement.

I was beginning to think she went somewhere and passed away, she's an older cat.

Cats always come up with surprises for their humans, even as they get older. And what cat wouldn't like a pile of freshly-laundered blankets to nap on? Of course, these surprises/disappearances are usually stressful for us!

When I lived in a warehouse apartment, my cat, The Swede, found she could jump up onto the furnace, then squeeze through a gap and walk around on the ceiling! I freaked out the first time she did it, as I pictured having to smash through the ceiling to get her back down; but she would eventually get bored and come back down. It was odd to hear her padding around up there, but she loved it.

Two of my other cats just love the basement. When go down to start laundry, or just go down there to get something they shot down the steps so fast it's like a blur. One of the rooms has a tiled ceiling and those are always up there snooping around. When they finally come down their whiskers are covered with cob webs.

I always panic when I can't find one or more of the cats. There are plenty of nooks and crannies for them to investigate.

Hidden in closet

It was only the other day, I was wondering where "Muffin" was. Like you, you don't usually panic (after checking all the usual places)until a certain amount of time passes; and you get this "empty" feeling.
So after a while, & on to other things, out he comes; doing his after-nap strut and yawn, but not w/o an expression "what's the fuss, Russ"???
So after all the concern of his whereabouts, and him walking out with that expression; and the fact that he is ok, what's left, but to hug him & love him. ...
Turned out upon dicovery today, he is favoring the other side of the walk-in closet!

Fresh bedding always has fans!

I would just get done changing the sheets and my cat would materialize out of nowhere and roll around the bed and under the blanket until she was satisfied. Never, ever did this unless it was fresh sheets.

When I lived at home w/parents we had a very small attic, accessed by a small panel in a closet. Removal of the panel made a certain sound, which summoned kitty. She'd be up there the minute you removed it; she'd nose around for hours and finally come down.

My sister has the kind of litter box that's like a little house. After changing the litter one day she noticed kitty acting strange several hours later. Even more hours later she walked past where the box was and noticed she accidentally put the door opening facing the wall! Kitty was in there like a shot seconds later...

We have a screened in back porch and two of our cats practically live out there during warm weather. They will sit on the window ledge and watch the birds and squirrels for hours. I sat out there last night and almost feel asleep in the old recliner with two cats on my lap and one on the back of the recliner listening to the crickets and frogs.

Our cat is an indoor/outdoor cat. Once my mom left her car window down and she decided to jump through the window, and laid in the back windshield in the sun and went to sleep LOL. The places cats find to sleep.

My youngest cat likes to sit on top of the computer tower, and my oldest loves to sit on the back of the monitor during the winter months. Our stove uses pilot lights and during the winter it's not uncommon to have 3 or 4 cats sleeping on the stove because of the warmth.

Our cats live indoors mostly, apart from time they spend in an outside enclosure.
Occasionally they are nowhere to be found (we know they are inside) and my partner gets a little panicked, in case they have escaped. Usually the missing cat turns up, with no hint where he or she has been.
we joke that they have just stepped through space/time from their other existence in another dimension.

My roommate always thinks I'm over reacting when I can't find one of the cats. But they are my babies and I hate it when I can't find them.

They will...

Cats will always find the warmest place in the house in the winter..(the radiator right above the furnace)and the coolest place in the summer..(the landing at the top of the stairs)..which is what Cornmeal (1980-1998) always did!

I have a friend that doesn't like cats very much, and it's funny when comes to visit the cat all love up him. He doesn't hate them, he's never been bitten by one.
