I have that same Sunbeam perc. I believe that the dial controls the length of brewing time by regulating the amount of heat. If I'm wrong, I will gladly stand corrected. Talk amongst yourselves.

Hmmmmm

It is my understanding that the strength dial controls the time of brewing, and not the temperature, but, I could be wrong.
