Atlanta is full of old 'tags. Its just that no one wants to part with them. However, a visit to just about any used appliance store around town will find a few center-control units waiting for a good home.

If I ever do get to transition from the Almond machines, I'm sort of getting interested in the earlier 'Tags. Any suggestions on learning more about them? I'm talking about the machines that had a centre dial, but with the more rounded console. It would be very interesting to know what models and features were available, and what parts availability is like.

Two-Speed, standard-capacity, three water levels, hot,warm and cold wash temps, warm rinse overide dial on top of console for a warm rinse. Original style filter agitator with stationary (non-flexible) fins---brutal on dirt.
Matching dryer would be a HOH.

Sandy - Steve is absolutely correct, the early lighted panels were wonderful machines.
A few months ago I had scanned in the 1964 brochure, it should be able to provide some more information for those inquiring minds.

The "AMP" type machine was produced with many cosmetic changes to the console/cabinet untill about--what---1959?
By the late 1950's the "jacketed" perforated-tub "AMP" models occupied the console/cabinet of what was to evolve into the 700 series with just a perforated tub. There were some minor cosmetic differences and the transitional model, which I have been lucky enough to have found one of, has the console/cabinet of the 700 series with the "hatch" type lid of the "AMP" style machines. Mine also has the copper trim around the control dial and the copper lint-filter.
