Sears Central air conditioner from the 70s

Hi Sam from reply number 17 that’s what my whirlpool air conditioner looks like that I put in in 1976. Mine was at least 50% higher because it was a super efficient model, these were made by Hile Quaker from Tennessee a division of whirlpool corporation and we’re very reliable air conditioners in their day.

Thanks for the info. I remember the Heil Quaker sticker somewhere in very small print on it. The metal fan guard on top was a replacement. It originally had a plastic grill on top but that was damaged in a storm many years ago

Condenser fan grill

I wondered about that unusual looking steel condenser fan grill. Mine had a Lexan plastic grill that was light, green and color and survived very well but no trees ever fell on it I guess.

As I mentioned earlier, mine was an ultra efficient model with a variable speed fan. It was so quiet you couldn’t hear it running 10to12 feet away, my was shipped on a plastic skid that was designed to be the base of it. The plastic skid survived beautifully and I used it for the new air conditioner when I replaced it about 3 1/2 years ago.
