Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Chuck,

I wasn't meaning to call a Miele junk. I know better. I just could'nt think of another global brand sold down under. Even if a Miele owner abuses the machine by neglecting filter changes, over fills the bags, causing an overheat shut down, they can be cleaned and are fine. Electrolux was downgraded whe they clowsd the plant in Vastervik Sweden. They moved producton to Hungary, which is fine, but so manmy parts are cheaply made from China. The Leffo pressure transducers which regulate motor speed for ex.

what brand is the vac?

I didn't want to mention the brand for the following reason...
This machine has been written off by the manufacturer. They don't want the written off machines to come back into circulation to haunt them - people trying on a warranty claim for example. When I find a home for this machine I will tell the new owner the truth about its origins, and that it has absolutely no warranty. I will give it away, not sell it.

Some manufacturers instruct their dealers to destroy any written off stock to make them beyond repair. I hate that practice - what a waste! I didn't want to spark an instruction from that mfr to dealers to destroy all written off stock. So no mention of the brand, but read on...

Probably 20 years ago now I got 4 Asko washers from the recycle shop that were also warranty returns. There were even more I didn't get. They were on the scrap metal pile but I was allowed to buy them when I asked. The first 2 were in good condition but had a trivial fault. (both the same fault and had clearly been worked on but not fixed. I found the fault - a simple build-up of muck in the pressure switch hose - and kept the machines. When I went back for more, the remaining machines had been vandalized to prevent repair. Fortunately the damage was different on each machine so I got 2 more, intending to make 1 of the 2. It never happened but I got lots of parts from them. I mention the Asko brand because I have already told the story here in full years ago. Asko ownership and importers have both changed since then.

Anyhow, back to the vac... it wasn't a Miele. It was one of the three on Chuck's list. All of those 3 are sold in Australia.
