Hi,
I'm brand new to the forum and my 1st question is about changing the impeller on an old (1971) Hoover portable washer.
Is a special tool needed to get the nut off at the back?
2nd question: if the nut doesn't come off, how does the darn impeller come off.

You might have guessed that I have a broken impeller on my hands... among other things.

Thanks anyone.

The thread runs counter-clockwise, Yogitunes, that is, to loosen the nut at the back. But I couldn't see any way to grab hold and get it to turn, with my eyesight.

A light bulb just went on in my head, Yogitunes: 'Try to turn the pulley counter-clockwise'.
I'll try to do just that. I'll have to hold the broken impeller for leverage, maybe with a vice-grip.
I guess the pulley should loosen if it turned in the correct direction, but how to grab hold of the pulley?
