My question is can you use liquid HE detergent in a conventional top load washer?
In particular Cheer HE.

The instructions on my Tide HE box do not distinguish between top and front loaders. Obviously there's going to be a lot more water in a TL and you'd have to adjust the amount accordingly.

HE Detergent is perfectly safe in a regular top loader. As Tom stated, there will be much less if any suds. My best friend uses HE detergent all the time in her top loader.

I have been using british front load detergents and also the Gain HE detergents in the top loader we have for the moment. No difference just less suds, still cleans the same, I just put in a little bit more than whats recommended just for my piece of mind but i may not even need to do that. I haven made the mistake of overdosing thinking it won't sudslock but it still does once the remaining soapy water gets kicked up by the spin.

Go for it basically :-)

I think even P&G has said that you can use HE detergent in a top-loader. Recent market introductions of new formulas seem to have them useable in either deep fill top loaders or HE machines.

If you really are curious about dosing in your particular formula, call P&G and ask them. I suspect they won't even suggest adding extra detergent. Lower or no suds is definitely going to be a result, though many of us like that element, as some have said above.

Let us know how it works out!

Though it's been a while, I've used Tide HE powder in the washers at the laundromat (full scoop) and didn't have any problems whatsoever with oversudsing, and the laundry came out relatively clean.

As I've said in previous posts, this stuff reminds me SOOO MUCH of vintage Dash.
