Chimichurri boards.

I saved the top off an old Kenmore portable dishwasher. It is suppose to be solid walnut.
Would it make a good board to eat off?
What prep would you have to do other than sanding?
Would it be too thick of a wood to use as in being too heavy to pass around?

I took one off a Lady K and built it in. Mine was butcher block. I would not eat off it, I would oil it to preserve it and it is too big and bulky to pass around. Mine was set into the countertop permanently as a cutting board.

If you oil it......

Do use mineral oil. (drug store or "health and beauty aids"  Will not go rancid like  a cooking oil.  As for using it in entertaining?  Too unwieldly to handle.  Keep it on a table.
