Although it appears to be a draconian law, which I guess it is right now, in time I'm sure it will eventually become a thing of the past.
Don't forget that only a few short years ago, maybe 10 or 20 it was illegal in the USA to sell or have in your possession a copy of Mao's Little Red Book but wasn't in any other western countries. Nor is it still legal for Americans to visit Cuba, although they do by getting there from Canada etc.. what's with that.

As far as I know, it was never illegal in the USA to own a copy of Mao's "Little Red Book". I know this because I bought one, on open sale, from a bookstore in Berkeley back in the late 70's.

I thought it contained some interesting bits of general wisdom, along with hopelessly trite political propaganda. My favorite:

"Quantity has a quality all its own".

And on that basis, the US Tank Corps overwhelmed the Germans in WWII.
