Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Can't view you tube video with opera - I tried to view the Turner Sapphire washing machine video, I get a message saying either JavaScript is not enabled or I need to update real player. It works fine when using Internet explorer.

Any clues?

Otherwise very impressed with Opera.

Glad I Could Help

I think your Opera problem might be solved by trying to download and install the latest Flash player. Adobe appears to have different versions for IE and Netscape/Opera.

Firefox 3 has a listed requirement of Windows 2000 or later.

Even though Firefox 2 is only supported until December, it might be worth considering--even with no support, it's likely to be far more secure than IE, and it can open pretty much anything.

I've been using IE since I got a computer in '99. I now use IE 7 and I've been to a total of one website that didn't work correctly. I keep my updates updated and have had no security issues.

Through the years I've heard use this, use that, use Netscape, use Mozilla, use the "browser of the week". I can't be bothered, IE works flawlessly.

Don't forget, the reason there are viruses aimed at IE and Windows is because they are the most popular. They are the most popular for a reason, they are the best (IMHO). Keep your free AVG anti-virus up to date and have fun.

The advantage of IE with site compatibility is one that Microsoft created. IE created its own standards, and many web site developers developed for IE's quirks. Particularly after IE had finished (virtually) killing of Netscape. IE has been a real nightmare for web designers who want to create something that is actually (real) standards compliant. Often, I've heard, something that adheres to real standards could break on IE.

Netscape could be bad, too, for quirks, although it's been irrelevant for years now.

As for security, there's more than popularity. Windows has, historically, used an abysmal security model. That makes it easier to compromise the system.
