I recently whined out loud here about my lack of vintage small appliances. My dear friend Veg-O-Matic heard my plea and took pity on me for having to drink coffee out of a soulless white plastic coffeemaker made by Chinese slave labor. In the short time we had the elcheapo Proctor-Silax drip coffeemaker, I had really grown to hate it-the spout on the pot ALWAYS dribbled coffee as you tried to pour or something would go awry with the lid so the little valve on the basket wouldn't release, creating a huge MESS!

So I arrived home on Tuesday (after having been to the dental chamber of horrors) to find a large package waiting for me. I open it up to find three lovingly wrapped vintage small appliances.

The first is this lovely Sunbeam Vista Percolater. I love it so because it matches my collection of Crazy Daisy/Spring Blossom Green. Here it is ready to be plugged in.

I Dream of Jeannie!

Just to make sure I did not feel left out of the "Which vintage coffeemaker should I use today?" club, Veg included this fantastic clear lucite goodie from Oster. I thought I would like the Sunbeam the best, but this Oster model really grows on you! Either way I love watching the coffee perk.

Here is the Oster ready to brew.

Santa knew!

It was so funny to because I had just said to Dennis the other night that I wish I had a Hot Dogger! The one Santa Veg sent me had the instructions still inside. Here it is loaded and ready to cook some bright red Hawaiian Wieners

Shocking photo of wieners being electrocuted!

The instructions say that the Hot Dogger is automatic, but you have to watch for when they are done. For you youngsters who have never seen such a thing, the Hot Dogger works by passing electrical current directly through the 'dogs. There is nothing like the taste of electrically cooked wieners. They stay hot enough to serve and there are these large obscene holes in both ends of the hot dogs when you are through, which is good for a laugh.

I should get out my clamp on ammeter to see how much resistance each wiener has.

Again-Many Thanks to Veg-O-Matic! Hon, you can come over for coffee and hot dawgs any time!

The Oster Coffeemaker is amazing!

I Dream of Jeannie indeed!

I remember the Hot Doggers -- never had one, but I thought the idea was amusing. I never thought of the obscene/amusing holes that would result. Funny, the commercials forgot to feature that.

Last time I thought of one was when I was reading a Penn and Teller thing about how you can make pickles glow yellow dimly if you pass an electric current through one for a minute or two. I immediately envisioned a Hot Dogger full of glowing pickles.

This is just fantastic! I like all 3! You have the really vintage hot dogger. The later one has Hot Dogger spelled in the body of a weiner dog, LOL. That's the one we had. I managed to fenagle that one probably because they weren't that expensive at LaBelle's (remember LaBelle's?)

The Oster is a percolator I still hope to add to my collection as well.

My parents have a Presto Hot Dogger buried in the back of the upstairs hall closet, it ain't been used in years. And, I have that same model Oster perc., found it at the thrift store run by our WI Synod Lutheran high school. Both work great!

You go Veg!

What a sweetie! =)

Thanks for sharing those pictures!

No doubt it was UL listed

The bus bars on which the Hot Dog Spikes are mounted have a plug on the end. The Dogs are only connected across the power line when the 'Drawer' is fully slid into the holder.
