Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Washer alley

My back is pressed against the dryers, so this is all I could fit in the shot. Norge on the left(front is drying its Rustoleum roght now), 1977 Filter-Flo in the center, and 1975 1-18 on the right. Some clutch issues there, I'll save that as a project next week. Behind (with light pouring out those back grooves), is the 1960 Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII. Under a blue drip cloth against the farthest wall is a perfectly working Maytag A608, awaiting new plumbing for a second bank of washers. That's my 5 total automatics, other parts of basement have the wringers and twin-tubs, not used in Ohio wintertime.

Looking good!

I wonder how much of this Norge is comparable with the Norgetags of more recent years. The pump looks almost like the Supco LP123 or LP128, although those have the inlet hoses connecting from the top. Could one of those be adapted with a different tub-to-pump hose? I don't recall the FSP equivalents.

Now I want to come and see your basement!
Dave

Keep up the good work!

final Norge pics

Here she is, finished and done and tested and leak-free and stable. My Picasa photo program allows me to turn shots to stand up straight, then when I import here they often go back to sideways, sorry.

here's more

This pic shows the description, Energy Sentry is the peace symbol, DOUBLE KNITS is the rectangle. I have machines with knit cycles, not double knits. The camera date is way way off, these pics are from 5 minutes ago

here's more

this is the other dryer wall, an 04 or so Kenmore with moisture sensors, gas model, and a 1975 DE606 I rebuilt. All work well, get de-linted annually, but electric rates tell me to use the DE606 sparingly. It is my favorite for dress shirts, I can get a way without ironing unless I'm headed to a funeral or wedding.

Top 5 for Washer Drama

Hey mrb627, what are the other four?

My SWAG:

1) Kelvinator/ABC-O-Matic
2) Unimatic Frigidaire
3) Western Auto Wizard
4) Solid Tub GE Filter-Flo

BTW, I do agree that the Norge in this thread is arguably the best washer ever.

spin rpm

in my 1982 monkey wards catalog, the spin rpm for the norge machines is given as
640 rpm-pretty fast,especially considering the washbasket diameter.
BTW the tub capacity for the norge dryers was given as 8 cubic feet-large even by
recent "supersize"standards.

peek at basement

Hi Mark, I too, would like to see your basement sometime, as we do have a connection-- our appliances appeared on stage together! Jeff

I notice the Soak cycle is marked in reverse for soak time, apparently as an indication of how much soak time has elapsed from the start.  But why?
